Write a fic where Albert chips his tooth eating glass

Albert stared at the glistening bottles laying on the counter. He was at a party at Race’s apartment, and he was definitely not what you would call sober. He had been dancing along with his friends and Beyonce in the living room, but his feet were screaming, so he decided to grab another drink from the kitchen.
He wandered to the counter and plopped down on one of the tall bar stools. He rested his chin on his arms, and glanced around the kitchen with interest. He saw nothing out of the ordinary; kitchen appliances, towels, a few dishes in the sink. The thing that caught his eye however, was the line of empty beer and vodka bottles waiting to be recycled. Albert licked his lips as he kept his eyes trained on the glass before him. The glass looked so smooth and cold, he thought. Maybe…how would they taste?
Albert lifted his head off of his arms and reached out to grab one of the clear vodka bottles. He had to blink rapidly a few times to get his inebriated eyes to focus. Up close, the glass was even more tempting. The smooth surface felt good in his hands, and the cold temperature was a pleasant contrast to his overheating body. Albert thought it over in his head once. Yep, this was a good idea.
He closed his eyes and opened his mouth, feeling the cool glass res against his lips. Then, without any hesitation, he bit down, hard. But rather than hearing the cracking of glass, all he heard was a dull thump, and a weird pain in his mouth. Albert opened his eyes and withdrew the bottle from his mouth. With the bottle, out came a small white object. Upon further inspection, he concluded the worst. He chipped his tooth. He ran his tongue along the top row of his teeth, and found one that had a new shape to it, his right canine. Well…he tried to think of what to do next, but all he wanted to do was laugh. He chipped his tooth trying to eat a glass bottle!
As he began to dissolve into laughter, another person entered the kitchen. Davey eyed the hysteric boy cautiously.
“Albert, what are you doing?” Albert opened his eyes, but didn’t stop laughing.
“I-I ahah, I ch-chipped my tooth!” He giggled out.
Davey’s eyebrows shot up, and he approached Albert and noticed the glass bottle sitting in front of him.
“And how did you manage to do that?”
“I tried to eat the glass bottle!” Albert was still laughing like an idiot.
Davey was shocked for about two seconds, then he just rubbed his temples in frustration. Of course the dumbass tried to eat glass.
“C’mon buddy, let’s get you home.” Davey grabbed Albert and began leading him out of the room. “And I’m going to need the name of your dentist.” This made Albert laugh even harder, and Davey roll his eyes with more intensity. But a small smile was pulling at his lips.
Albert always knew that Elmer was a little weird. He was adorable, but strange in the most interesting of ways. Today Albert was sitting on the couch watching Elmer in the kitchen. He was supposed to be cutting up potatoes for the dinner they were going to later at Davey and Jack’s apartment. He was supposed to be, but at the moment he had a singular potato in his hand that he was staring at with an intensity that rivaled that of Race watching Drag Race. After about a minute of Elmer’s deep concentration on the potato, Albert decided to investigate.
Lifting himself off of the couch, Albert tilted his head curiously and tiptoed his way into the kitchen, so as not to disturb whatever the hell was happening with Elmer.
“Elmer.” Albert said softly, attempting to get his attention, but not startle him.
“Hmm?” Elmer hummed out, still not lifting his eyes off of the object in his hands. Albert was no closer to figuring out what the hell his boyfriend was up to.
“Sweetie, what’cha doing?”
“Staring at this potato.” He responded with no joke prevalent in his tone.
“Well I sort of figured that much out. I meant, why are you staring at the potato? And why this one in particular.”
Elmer finally met Albert’s gaze, “It’s a good potato.”
Albert’s eyebrows lifted as he let out a small chuckle. He reached his arms out and pulled Elmer’s body against his, resting his chin on top of Elmer’s fluffy hair.
“I’m sure it is. Does this mean that we won’t be cutting him up for the soup?”
Elmer turned in Albert’s arms to face him, his jaw dropped in horror. “Of course we aren’t cutting him up! How could you even say such a thing!”
Albert lifted his hands in surrender, “My apologies, so our potato friend will be staying with us for a while then?” His hands dropped back down to Elmer’s waist and Albert watched Elmer’s face scrunch up into the little smile that he fell in love with.
“Absolutely. As long as you say it is alright.” Elmer’s eyes looked like a dog begging for more food, wide and shining, how could he in good conscious say no?
“Yes, he can stay as long as you want.” Albert ended his statement with a small peck to Elmer’s nose.
Elmer’s face lit up for a second time. He grabbed the back of Albert’s head with his hand that wasn’t currently holding the potato, and brought his face down for a seemingly too passionate kiss for the current situation. Albert didn’t really mind that much. When they broke apart, Elmer smiled and then jetted across the room, leaving Albert alone and confused.
When he came back, the potato was donning a drawn on smiley face, and a top hat. Elmer held it out in front of him to Albert like a child presenting his crayon drawings to his parents. “Here is a really good potato. Cherish it.”
Albert smiled and rolled his eyes at the silly idiot he was incredibly in love with. “He looks great El. What’s his name?”
Elmer furrowed his eyebrows confusedly. “Why the hell would I name a potato?”
Albert opened his mouth, but had no response. Instead, he rolled his eyes, placed the fancy potato on a clear spot on the counter and began cutting the other, not so special potatoes. “C’mon potato boy, we’ve got soup to make.”
Elmer smiled and began washing the potatoes in the bowl next to Albert. After he was done, he leaned over, took the knife from Alberts hand, setting it gently on the counter, and pulled him into an intense kiss. Albert was grinning so wide, he couldn’t continue. Instead, he grabbed Elmer’s hand and dragged him to the bedroom. So they would be a little late to Jack’s, not any different from usual.

Davey was in the bathroom washing his face getting ready for bed. It was an average tuesday night, he had showered, but on a face mask, and was currently obsessing about the blackheads on his nose. They were barely visible, but Davey couldn’t stop obsessing. He was wiping the water off of his face when he heard noise in the living room. He figured it was probably just Devon coming back from his boyfriend’s house. Devon and his boyfriend Race had been going strong for a few months. Davey really liked Race, as in he really liked him. Davey wasn’t the type to steal someone’s boyfriend, especially his really great roommate. However, when he looked at Race, all reason went out the window. Davey liked to think of himself as a fairly logical person, but everytime he saw Race, he considered grabbing his face and pulling him into a kiss. Obviously he didn’t do that, but he didn’t not think about it. It didn’t help that Race seemed like such a great match for Davey, and not for Devon. Sure Devon and Race worked, but it always seemed as though he and Race had more in common, more to talk about. Every time he saw Race, another similarity between them as revealed. Whether it was instruments, tv shows, catchphrases, honestly anything. From an outsider, it would appear that Davey and Race had been friends since the womb. They never ran out of things to tell each other, or talk of different topics they enjoyed. He didn’t know if Race and Devon talked about this stuff. He wasn’t even sure what Race and Devon talked about ever. They probably never really “talked”.
Ignoring the the thoughts of his roommate’s stunning partner, Davey flicked off the light and exited the bathroom, heading towards his room, when he saw someone in the living room that was certainly not Devon.
“Race?” Davey called from across the room. The boy was leaning his head out the window, frozen in fear? Or shock maybe?
Race turned away from the window. When his eyes landed on Davey, his mouth slit into an incredibly fake smile. Overly enthusiastic, and very obviously hiding something, Race walked over to Davey.
“Heeeeyyyyy Dave!” Davey crossed his arms and leaned against the wall next to him.
“Race, what are you doing here? Where is Devon? You guys know you just have to tell me a little in advance and I’ll scatter.” Davey asked with a small smile on his face when he noticed Race’s blush lightly dusting his cheeks.
“Well, about that.” There was an awkward pause as Race didn’t want to continue. Davey just stood there, waiting for his answer. Race sighed and spoke very quickly, “Well you see, isortofthrewyourlaptopoutthewindow.”
“Come again?” Davey asked, his eyebrows quirked in confusion.
Race sighed once more and plopped down onto the big couch to the side of the room. He huffed, putting his heels up on the coffee table. Davey grimaced at his action.
“So basically, I threw your computer out of the window.”
“What! Why on Earth would you do that! What were you thinking?”
Race hung his head down, in shame and what almost seemed like misery. Why would he be miserable?
“I wasn’t trying to throw your computer out of the window.” He answered blandly.
“Than who-” Davey cut himself off quickly when Race’s hands shot up to his face, hiding his eyes. Davey sat down gently next to Race and put a light arm on his shoulder. “Why were you trying to toss Devon’s laptop?” He asked gently, rubbing small circles into Race’s shoulder with his thumb. Race hiccuped and sniffled before lifting his head and looking at Davey.
“He cheated on me.” Davey’s only response was for his mouth to hang wide open. Devon? Cheating? That wasn’t like his roommate at all. Devon was a smart kid, really smart too. He was sweet and just wanted a steady relationship and a good job, both of which he currently has, or well, had.
“Not that I don’t believe you, but how can you be sure?” Race slid his palms down his face, pulling lightly on the skin before he clasped his hands together in his lap and looked Davey in the eyes.
When Davey saw his big blue eyes, red rimmed from the crying he had been doing, Davey’s heart skipped a beat. His eyes were bearing into Davey’s. They were innocent, caring, loving. Davey wanted nothing else more in that moment than to go and find Devon, and hurt him like he hurt the boy in front of him.
“I saw him kissing someone else.” Davey’s eyebrows shot up.
“Who?”
“I don’t know, some girl.” Davey was surprised at that, Devon had never mentioned being bi, pan, really anything besides strictly into guys. He was kind of offended, didn’t Devon trust him? But that was a question for another time. Race looked distraught, staring at Davey as he worked through that thought in his mind.
“Yeah, I didn’t think he was into girls either, but guess I found out the hard way.” Davey grabbed Race and pulled him to his chest. His heart hurt for the boy beside him. He did nothing to deserve this. Race deserved the world and nothing less. It wasn’t even that Davey liked him that he was biased. He genuinely believed that Race was one of the most caring people on the planet.
Davey could feel Race shaking in his arms, his tears wetting the T-shirt on Davey’s chest. He placed a gentle hand on Race’s head and began to softly stroke the curls. “Race, I’m sorry he did this. I don’t know why, it definitely isn’t like him, but I hope you know it isn’t your fault.” Davey felt Race’s soft smile on his chest.
“Thank you Dave. I’m sorry I threw your laptop. I thought it was his, honest.” Davey laughed lightly and lifted Race’s head from his chest too look him in the eyes.
“It’s alright. I promise. I’ll make Devon pay for it, whenever his sorry excuse for an ass walks through that door. Speaking of which, I’m pretty sure he is supposed to be coming home soon. Are you sure you want to be here?” Race’s face fell from the smile he was adorning before.
“Is this you telling me to get out? I mean, I know we aren’t the greatest of friends, but I kinda really like spending time with you Dave.” Davey grabbed Race’s wrist as he attempted to stand from the couch.
“No! That’s not it at all.” Race sat back down again, their faces the same proximity as before. “I just meant, you probably don’t want to deal with him tonight. Or ever again. Which means that we can never come back here, or I need to get a new apartment.” Race giggled and raised an eyebrow suggestively.
“What’re you saying there Davey boy. You plan on seeing me quite often? You asking to move in with me?”
Davey scrambled to defend himself, to say that none of that was anything at all what he meant, but Race beat him to the chase, “Relax Dave, I’m just kidding.” Somehow, during all of that, their faces had gotten even closer. Race’s sad eye from before were now sparkling with laughter, a look that Davey really wanted to get used to. He could feel Race’s breathing on his chin, and the smile on his face didn’t cease.
Their breaths were heavy as they continued to stare at each other, grins like idiots on their faces. “Can I be honest with you Davey?” Race asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Absolutely.” Davey answered at the same volume.
“I’m not really that upset about Devon. I mean, sure I’m sad because I really did like him, and I am pretty hurt, but this makes me hopeful for the future.”
“How could this possibly give you hope?” Davey questioned incredulously.
“Because” Race moved his hand overtop of Davey’s that was resting on the couch, “I kind of like his roommate.”
Davey let out a laugh of disbelief. “Is that so?”
Race bit his lip and nodded his head. “Can I be even more honest with you Davey?”
“I don’t see how that’s possible, but try me.”
Race leaned in as close as he possibly could, their lips barely centimeters apart, breathing the same air. “I really want him to kiss me right now.”
“Really?” Race nodded his head slightly, and that was all Davey needed before he grabbed the face of the boy in front of him and crashed their lips together. Race reciprocated immediately, twisting his fingers into Davey’s hair. They were both smiling so much, it could hardly be considered a kiss. It was almost more just their faces being pressed together, but neither of them cared.
Race straddled Davey’s lap and began his descent on his neck. Kissing up and down his jaw, neck, and collar bone. Davey could do nothing besides lean his head back, so Race had more room, and wrap his arms around Race’s waist. The only thing that could be heard in the room was the sound of ragged breathing, lips on skin, and both of them could have sworn, the pounding of their hearts.
Neither boy moved out of the position until a loud noise from the apartment above them startled their actions. They both looked around horrified, afraid it might be Devon. They gave each other a scared look before bursting out laughing.
Race left a few more soft kisses on Davey’s collarbone and lips, then leaned back, his hands still in Davey’s hair, to admire his work.
“Maybe we should lock the door or something. Wouldn’t want a certain someone walking in on all of this,” He gestured to the red and now turning darker, marks on Davey. Davey laughed and gave Race a quick peck before lifting him out of his lap to do just that. When he finally locked the door and began dragging Race towards his bedroom, he spoke. “It’s official, I’m moving out.” All that could be heard from the living room was the beginning of a laugh from Race, and the sound of a door slamming, and a body slamming into it immediatly after…

The Night Before
Albert’s head was running a million miles a minute. The night before, he had been walking with Finch through the alleys. They had stolen a small bottle of alcohol and were sharing it within the comfort of the shadows of the dark city. They laughed and whispered, slowly getting tipsier as they went on. They rested their backs against the cool bricks of a building, bodies pressed against each other, faces barely inches apart. It was there, under the starry night, hidden by the buildings around them, that Albert really saw Finch. The dim lights from the streetlamps reflected in Finch’s eyes, making them glimmer. Albert gasped as they seemed to glint for him. They both held onto a breath before slowly leaning together. They panted softly, foreheads gently touching, then Albert tilted his head and their lips met. Albert could’ve sworn his entire world lit up in that moment.
They reluctantly parted, a satisfying noise marking their separation. Their warm breaths mingled as they let out a shaky laugh, not dropping their gaze from the other’s face.
“Tell me we won’t forget this is the morning.” Albert pleaded, grabbing one of Finch’s hands in his, pressing it to his chest.
“I wouldn’t forget this for anything.” Finch whispered back, and closed the gap between them once again.
000000
Albert was seeing red. His head had been filled with nothing but clouds all morning, he and Finch finally expressed their feelings, they kissed. He couldn’t believe it actually happened, but he wouldn’t dare imagine it wasn’t real. But now, he was turning the corner like a steam roller, determined to make it back to the lodging house before anyone saw him.
Albert had been looking everywhere for Finch all morning, but he was nowhere. Well, until Albert found Finch and some random floozy in a pink skirt tucked away in an alley, their alley. They were moulded to each other, as if a single bit of space would separate them entirely. Albert should have looked away sooner, but he couldn’t. His eyes were glued to the hands around the girl’s waist. The ones he held against his heart with forbidden promises the night before, right where they stood.
Albert’s eyes were filled with water. The whip of the wind against him as he flew down the street stung his face and made the tears worse. He launched himself through the door to the lodging house and up to his bunk. He buried his face in his pillow and let out a half sob half scream. He wanted to keep screaming until his throat couldn’t take it anymore, but someone entered the room.
“Albert! What the hell is wrong with you!” Finch was red, huffing attempting to catch his breath, his hand still on the knob to the door.
Albert closed his eyes, willing the tears to stop, but they only flowed harder.
“Albert! Tell me why I just caught you staring at me and the girl I’ve been after for a week now in the alley?”
Albert knitted his eyebrows, his mouth puckering. He stared at Finch, as if allowing him a moment to take back what he said, tell him it was all a stupid prank, but he didn’t.
“Wait, are you serious?” Albert questioned, his face stone.
“Of course I’m serious! I want to know why one of my friends started crying and running away from me! What the hell is wrong with you? She’s never going to speak to me again!” Albert’s mouth was hanging wide open. He couldn’t believe the words spilling from his friend, no more than his friend’s, mouth.
“We’re not just friends and you fucking know it!” Albert yelled back at him. Finch cocked his head.
“What are you on about?”
“Last night! In that same fucking alley! You and me, we kissed!” Albert was closer to Finch now, almost face to face.
“Nothing happened last night Albert. You got drunk, I brought you home, that’s all.” Finch turned away, breathing hard, but his voice stern and steady.
“Yes it did! We kissed and you told me you would never forget it, how could you already go back on that Finchy?” Albert put himself back in Finch’s line of sight.
“Don’t call me that.” Finch nearly whispered.
“You can’t keep pretending it didn’t happen, cause guess what? It did!” Albert threw his hands into the air, there’s no way Finch could forget. He had to remember, he promised. He had to, maybe…
“Albert, nothing happen-” He was cut off by Albert grabbing his face and crashing their lips together.
Albert’s eyes were squeezed shut so tightly, he could feel the tears spilling over, most definitely dripping onto Finch’s cheeks, but he didn’t care. Finch had to remember.
Albert didn’t let go until he was shoved off. He stumbled backwards and stared into Finch’s eyes, searching for any signs of recollection. All he saw was emptiness, none of the glistening light from the night before. He hadn’t remembered.
“Albert! Get the fuck off of me! I don’t know what you’re doing, but I don’t want to be a part of your sick game. Stay away from me. Please.”
With that, Finch stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him. All Albert could do was watch him leave. He dropped to his knees and let the tears take over. Finch hadn’t remembered, or Finch didn’t want to remember. Either way, he wanted nothing of what he promised the night before.
Albert put a hand over his heart, he could feel the empty throbbing of his heart against his chest. The sobs took over him, he couldn’t take a full breath, he felt like the room was closing in around him. Every breath was a gasp for air. He willed his body to stop, he tried to breathe, but his breath hitched, leaving him without oxygen. He felt his face turning purple, his entire body felt like it was on fire, his chest heaving sparratically.
He finally fell on his back and closed his eyes, letting his body do what it had to do. All the while, he pictured Finch’s eyes. The bright, wide eyes that reflected the light of the city, the streetlamps, and Albert’s hope. Albert silently begged for those eyes to come back. Instead, he was left dying of heartbreak, alone, the eyes dimming in his mind with every passing second.
Ok, I finally finished this and tbh I love it! My @newsiessecretsanta was @poorguyssheadissspinning I wrote you a little modern Javid domestic fluff! Hope you enjoy!
Instructions Are For Wimps
“Jack I swear to God, if you don’t help me lift this box, I’m going to break up with you,” Davey yelled from the bottom of the stairs.
Jack peeked his head out of the door to their bedroom giving Davey a pouty face as he did so, “But Daveeeeeee,” he whined “That's so much work. I would have to climb all the way down the stairs, pick up the box, then climb all the way back up!”
Davey didn't move, the look on his face saying he wasn't giving in. “Fine.” Jack huffed and proceeded to slump down the stairs. “But only because I really love you.”
Davey gave him a smug grin, “mhm.”
Jack positioned himself on the opposite side of the box and stuck his tongue out, Davey reciprocated the action with a hand gesture to go with it. They both lifted and Jack began the journey up the stairs backwards quickly, Davey stumbling after him.
“Davey, put some back into it,”
“You’re supposed to lift with you legs-“
“WELL YOU HAVE A LOT OF LEG SO GET TO LIFTING!”
After some shouting, cursing, and death threats, the box was finally laying in the middle of their bedroom. It was torn open, all of the different pieces laying around and a hammer, screwdriver, and the directions carelessly tossed to the side.
They were sitting across from each other, cross legged, staring down the object in front of them.
“Jack, we have to finish this. I want to actually sleep in a bed tonight.” Davey pleaded.
“We could do more than sleep in this bed tonight,” That earned Jack a washer to the head. “Okay okay, where do you want to start?”
“Well, obviously we need to look at the instructions.” Davey picked up the folded papers in front of him and smoothed them out so he could read.
“Forget the instructions, I build shit all the time, a fucking Ikea bed shouldn't be that hard.” He grabbed the instructions from Davey's hand and put them to the side.
“Jack, I do nothing want you fucking up our first piece of furniture we actually paid for!” Davey grabbed the paper back and started to grab the pieces for the first step.
“Davey, honey, c'mon. Don't you trust me?” he attempted to give Davey a seductive smirk and made his way over to Davey.
“Jack. Instructions.”
“C'mon baby.” Jack had begun to place gentle kisses on the side of Davey's neck.
“Jack,” his only response was a gentle bite to the neck.
“Jack Kelly, if you don't get off of me and use these instructions, you will be sleeping on the ground, and there will be no fun on the new bed tonight!”
Cut to Davey reading “Section F connects to piece G using the black screws,” And a grumbling Jack with the screwdriver putting the pieces together.
000
“There, finished, funtime now?” Jack looked to Davey pleadingly.
Davey looked over the instructions one more time before putting the papers down. “Yeah, I guess.”
Jack beamed and instantly grabbing Davey's waist pulling him into a kiss. Davey smiled at his eagerness and returned the action. Jack began to pull at the bottom of Davey's shirt and walking him towards the new bed.
“Ow!” Davey quickly pulled away, Jack dropping his hands with the motion.
“I just stepped on something.” Davey bent down to pick up a single screw from the carpet.
“It's just a screw, you'll be ok.” Jack took the screw from Davey's hand and placed it on the desk next to them.
“Wait, Jack. That's a screw from the bed.”
“Okay? And?”
“That means we missed one! The bed could fall apart under us!”
Jack huffed and cupped Davey's face, pulling him in for another kiss. “Relax, there's always extras incase you lose one, like we did apparently.” He continued to pepper Davey's face in small kisses. One on his nose, on each cheek, his forehead.
“Okay, if you say so.” Jack smiled and wrapped his arms around Davey's waist.
“Thank God, now back to funtime, which you have been so adamantly depriving me of.” As he was about to push Davey down onto the bed, Davey grabbed his arm.
“Jack.” Jack groaned.
“What Davey! Can't you just let a guy get some!” He cried dramatically.
“Jack! We forgot about the mattress!” Jack looked up from where he had buried his face in Davey's neck.
“Can't a guy catch a break!” He flopped backwards onto the ground.
Davey rolled his eyes and joined him on the carpet, although much more gracefully.
“I can't do it Davey. I can't bare to carry that stupid thing up those stairs.” He threw his arms over his eyes, pouting.
Davey smiled and placed a kiss on Jack's exposed collarbone. Jack peeked out from his arms to see Davey's face barely and inch from his.
“How about,” Davey kissed Jack's neck, “We take a break,” A kiss to the jaw, “Have a little fun,” A kiss behind the ear, “Then we bring up the mattress,” A kiss to the lips, “Then we have some more fun.”
Jack stared at Davey, stunned. “Really?”
Davey just nodded in response, biting his lips while he smiled. Jack lit up and rolled them over so he was on top, ripping off Davey's shirt with newfound determination.
Accompanying this action was, “Jack!” Followed by a stream of laughter and giggles.

The sound of laughter, the warmth of the fire, and the cheer of good friends filled the room. It was Christmas eve and everyone was gathered at Davey and Jack’s apartment to celebrate. Even though Davey already hosted their one day hanukkah celebration (because eight nights of all of the boys would be murder for his sanity), Davey insisted on hosting the christmas party at their apartment. He had really gone all out, for someone who doesn’t even celebrate the holiday. The kitchen had snowman dishrags and holiday scented candles burning on the counters. The table was set with festive placemats, napkin rings, and placecards. Each boy’s name was printed in red or green neat curly cursive, definitely Davey’s doing, and had a small drawing of a christmas figure, obviously courtesy of Jack. There was a big tree in the corner of the room decorated with shimmery coordinating ornaments, and there were even stockings with Davey and Jack’s name above the fireplace, with many a nutcracker atop the mantle. There were even bundles of mistletoe and small glittering ornaments tastefully hanging from doorways and fans throughout the apartment.
Spot was surrounded by the people he loved, but would never tell, and the one person he did want to tell. Spot tuned out Race as he babbled on about a new bet he has with one of the boys, the poor soul. He gazed across the room to the vibrant head of red hair that was laughing at a joke Jack was telling. The boys were doubled over, grinning wider than the cheshire cat. Their faces were red and they were very obviously out of breath. Spot, even from where he was standing on the other side of the apartment, could still hear the sound of Albert’s laughter. His laugh was loud and infectious, Spot couldn’t help but smile at the sound of it. Spot felt a twinge in his chest. As much as he loved listening to Albert laugh, he also wanted to be the cause of that joy.
Spot excused himself from Race and went to the kitchen to grab two new glasses of champagne. He approached the still laughing Jack and Albert. When they saw him, they attempted to sober up, giggles still escaping from their mouths.
“What’s so funny?” Spot asked suspiciously. Neither boy could keep control of their straight face, and they broke out into loud laughter once again.
“What?” Spot asked again, attempting not to laugh along with them.
“Nothing Spottie, definitely not laughing about the time at Chick-fil-a when that girl asked if she could hop on that dick-fil-a” Albert broke at the end of the sentence into even more laughter while Jack almost collapsed onto the ground. Spot huffed at their laughter and waited for them to be done.
“And then what you said back was gold, Jack, Jack, listen.” Albert was nudging Jack to get him to listen. Spot sighed and responded in a monotone voice.
“It would be my pleasure.” That’s when Albert and Jack really lost it and they were leaning on each other to stay standing. Spot continued to wait for them to finish, tapping his foot impatiently.
“Are you two done yet?” He asked trying to sound stern, but his voice had a humorous edge to it.
“Sorry Spottie, we’re done now.” Albert responded, the giant smile still plastered to his face, and his cheeks were as red as his hair.
“Yeah, yeah, we’re done.” Jack answered, “but really quick, can you answer a question for me?”
Spot raised his eyebrows, waiting for him to proceed. “Can I hop on that dick-fil-a?” Spot punched him in the arm as he ran to Davey on the other side of the room.
“Yeah go run to your boyfriend, maybe he’ll give you some!” Spot yelled after him as Albert giggled at his side. When Spot finally turned back to Albert he was finally calming down from the fits of laughter. Spot smiled softly at him and handed him the glass of champagne. Albert let out a long sigh and took a sip of the champagne.
“You and Jack should never be left alone together.” Spot shook his head.
“Yeah, he’s quite something.” They looked over to Jack who was currently trying to coax a kiss out of Davey, and failing miserably.
“I hope someone looks at me like that someday.” Albert said longingly, still watching Jack’s pursuit of Davey. Spot looked at the expression on Albert’s face. He seemed sad and yet hopeful. He sighed once more and turned back to Spot.
“Maybe someone already looks at you like that Red. Maybe you just aren’t looking when they do.” Spot spoke quietly. HE hoped he wasn’t confessing too much. In all honesty, he’s pretty sure he looks ten times more in hopelessly in love than Jack does. Whenever he looks at Albert, he gets a feeling in his stomach that he used to hate, but now he welcomes it. Spot hates how this little redhead in front of him makes him go from the tough guy he has worked year to become, to a stupid love sick puppy.
“Yeah sure Spottie, let me know if you see them.” Albert laughed once dryly and continued to sip his champagne. Spot’s heart broke a little at how Albert couldn’t see how in love he was.
“Hey, you wanna go on a little walk?” Spot suggested out of the blue.
Albert raised his eyebrows and pointed to the window, “In the snow?”
“Ummm,” Spot didn’t think this plan through, “Yeah, sure, why not.” He grabbed Albert’s arm and led them towards the front door to grab their coats. They headed out the door and when they pushed open the building’s front doors, the cold air immediately assaulted their faces and hands.
“Spottie, why the fuck are we out here.” Albert said through his shivers, his words serious, but his tone playful.
Spot rocked from his heels to toes, back and forth. He really wanted to tell him, but he didn’t know how.
“Hello? Spot? You still with me?” Albert waved a freezing hand in front of Spot’s face. “You good Spot?”
Spot opened his mouth to say something, but instead he grabbed Albert’s and and pulled him close. Before Albert could process what was happening, their lips crashed together. They were both cold, their breaths the only thing warming them up. Albert quickly put a hand around the back of Spot’s neck and grabbed the nape of his hair. Spot wrapped his arms around Albert’s waist, and pulled him as close as possible. They kept ahold of each other and continued their pursuit of each other, warm breaths against lips, tongues and teeth clamoring down jaws. Albert let out a pleased sigh as Spot nipped at his neck. He tugged on Spot’s hair to bring their lips back together. They had to stop because they could no longer contain their smiles. They leaned their heads together and laughed.
“Can we please go back inside? As nice as this is, I’m freezing my ass off.” Albert whispered. Spot laughed and grabbed his arm to drag him back inside. As soon as the warm air hit them, Spot pulled Albert back into another kiss, which turned into a bunch of small kisses and giggling.
“C’mon, everyone will be wondering where we are.” Albert pulled Spot up the stairs into the apartment, where it appeared that no one noticed their absence. They stood in the doorway, watching all of their friends having a good time. They were as happy as they could be. Suddenly, they heard their names being called by Jack.
“Hey love birds! Look up!” They did as they were told, and they saw the mistletoe hanging from the doorway above their heads. They smiled at each other and Albert grabbed Spot’s neck and pulled him in for a long kiss. Around them, the sounds of hollering and cheering could be heard from the other boys. They smiled into the kiss when they heard a “finally” come from Jack.
They broke apart, but didn’t let go of each other. They remained wrapped in each other’s arms and leaning against each other.
“So, merry Christmas Spottie.”
Spot smiled and ran a hand through Albert’s hair, “Merry Christmas Red.”

2000 words, enjoy!
The sun was shining brightly in Spot’s eyes as he gazed around his turf from the top of a wall of crates. His newsies were spread out through the burough, hawking and hustling, trying to earn their day’s pay. Everyone stretching from the bridge to the docks; every street corner, road, and trolley stop. All was well as far as Spot could see until Hotshot came up to him with some news.
“Hey Spot, looks like a Manhattans coming over. One of the kids told me, not sure if he has papes or not, but thought you’d wanna know. It definitely isn’t Racer, so we weren’t sure how you wanted to handle it.” Hotshot spoke up to Spot on the crates, barely straining his neck due to his height.
“Thanks Hotshot, I’ll go take a look. Why don’t you head on over to the Sheepshead and see how our friend Racer is doing. Maybe he’s expecting a visitor.” Spot spoke with a stern yet casual tone.
Hotshot nodded and began to stroll towards the Sheephead, checking in with the younger newsies when he saw them. He would take a pape and wave it around until someone bought it, handing the coin to the kid he took the paper from. Or he would catch one in a headlock and ruffle up his hair a bit before letting go and setting his cap right. Spot waited until Hotshot was out of sight to hop down from his crates and start towards the Brooklyn bridge. Newsies shouted his name as he passed, a young boy, Lace, tossed a pape at him, which he caught with one hand. Lace laughed and returned to his customers, yelling obscene, and most likely false, headlines down the street, to any person that would listen. Spot smiled lightly and opened the paper in his hand, examining the contents during his short walk to the bridge.
When he reached the bridge, he saw the boy Hotshot must have been talking about. He was short, definitely still taller than Spot. He was also quite muscular from what Spot could see from the short sleeve shirt he was donning. He seemed too relaxed to know he was on Brooklyn turf. Spot decided he wanted to see what this kid was up to.
He stood as tall as possible, attempting to put on his best “killer leader of Brooklyn” look, and marched right up to the unknown kid. “What are ya doing in Brooklyn, Manhattan?”
The kid turned to Spot, clearly surprised, but not frightened. As soon as he locked eyes with Spot his mouth spread into a wide toothy grin. Spot looked on in confusion. What was this kid up to?
The kid, still smiling at Spot, crossed his arms and fell into a comfortable resting position. This confused Spot even more. Why was this kid so relaxed? What is he doing here? He also noticed the kids face. He had pretty tan skin, darker than Spot’s, and freckles that sprinkled his nose. His smile crinkled the nose and his eyes a tad bit, almost scrunching his face. Spot got lost examining his face, he was pretty cute. His eyes traveled lower, taking in the muscles that he had seen before. Up close they were even more impressive, even ripped Spot was a little impressed with this kid’s arms. When Spot’s eyes started traveling to the kid’s chest, he shook his head of his thoughts and looked back up at his face.
“Ya gonna answer my question or just stand there like a dumbass?” Spot question, getting more frustrated with the kid.
“I ain’t a dumbass,” The kid laughed out.
“Then why are you here?” Spot asked again. One more time and he was going to pummel this kid.
“Alright alright, you get any madder and your head is gonna pop right off your head.” The kid put his hands up in surrender. “The names Elmer.” He spit in his hand and put it out for Spot.
Spot didn’t take the hand. “Cute, but I asked why you were here, not what your buddies call ya.” He said sarcastically.
“Right. Well. Racer sells at the Sheepshead, which obviously you know, cuz you’re the one letting him sell here.” The kid, Elmer, laughed and rubbed the back of his neck. “Well, you see. I was going to come visit him, maybe see the races. I’ve never been to a race before.”
Elmer rocked back and forth on his feet, it almost seemed like he was hiding something, but without any papers, or obvious reason to kick this kid out, Spot couldn’t do anything.
“Well, then hurry up and get over there. And don’t even think about trying to sell while you’re here.” Spot pointed in the direction of the races and gave his orders militantly.
Elmer’s smile came back as he did a fake salute towards Spot, standing as straight as he could, then ran off the direction that Spot pointed.
Spot watched the kid run off and shook his head, he was going to have to keep a close eye on Elmer. Definitely not because he wanted to see his face again, not at all.

Spot spoke to Hotshot about Elmer, told him to layoff and see what he does. Spot told him he would check in on him and Race at the Sheepshead, and for Hotshot to watch over everything else. Hotshot gave him a suspicious look for letting Elmer off so easy, but he was in no position to ask Spot any questions. He thanked Spot for the update on the stranger, and got to work.
Now Spot was standing in a corner of the Sheepshead watching Race and Elmer mess around, shoving, play fighting, and hollering about the races. He noticed himself laughing a little at their antics, and decided to head over.
“Racer.” Spot said as he approached the two.
They turned to greet the voice behind them. Race turned around first, smiling as he saw Spot.
“Well hello there Spottie. What can I do for you on this fine morning?” Race leaned on the wooden post next to him, his eyes lidded and his tone a sensual drawl. Race had a tendency to be quite a flirtatious guy. It tended to work well when selling to the ladies, but all it did for Spot was make him roll his eyes.
“Just seeing how you and your friend were enjoying yourselves.” Spot gestured to Elmer who finally peeled his eyes away from the excitement occuring on the track.
“Oh hey Spot!” Elmer said, his big goofy grin popping back up on his cute face. Wait cute. What?
Race raised his eyebrows at Elmer, “You two met?”
“Yeah, this morning when this little devil tried to sneak over the bridge without me noticing.”
“I wasn’t sneaking, honest. I was just walking. And I think we had a lovely first meeting, truly one for the history books.” Race turned back to Spot, his eyebrows raised even further and a small smirk playing on his lips.
“Is that so? Well I had no idea that you two would become so chummy so quick. How about I leave so you can familiarize yourselves some more?” Race snickered as he walked away and began a conversation with a man passing by. They quickly got into what was obviously a bet on the horses. Spot wanted to call him back over to get onto him, but before he could, Elmer spoke.
“You know, I thought our meeting this morning really was a good one.” Elmer said, not sarcastically, but with a pleasant tone and a small, almost shy smile.
“Huh?” Spot questioned.
“Well,” Elmer leaned forward, his elbow resting on the post Race was just leaning on. Spot could tell they were close friends, they had some of the same mannerisms for sure. “When I said I came over here to see Race, that wasn’t the truth.”
“You sayin you lied to me?” Spot started to grow suspicious. Was this about what he was hiding earlier?
“No. Well yes. I mean” Elmer took a breath and let out a nervous laugh, just like earlier. “Well, Race has been selling over here for a while right?”
“Yeah?”
“And you two are pals right?” Spot glanced over at the idiot trying to make a bet with an old man. He was doing a pretty good job from the looks of it because the man seemed thoroughly confused, but was handing over his money anyway.
“You could say that I guess.”
“You see, whenever Race comes home, he has all these stories about you.” Spot came a little closer to Elmer, and leaned against the same fence.
“Its always, Spot Conlon said this, Spot Conlon did that, Spot Conlon is amazing!”
“He said that?” Spot asked incredulously.
“Okay, well maybe not those exact words, but you get the idea. I just had to come and see the great Spot Conlon for myself.”
“So am I everything you expected?” Spot asked with a smile. Race may be a dumbass at times, but apparently he could talk up Spot to his cute friend, which was perfectly okay with Spot.
“Not exactly if I’m being honest.”
“Oh, do tell then. What’s wrong with me? Am I even shorter than you imagined? Not as scary as you thought I’d be?” Spot was teasing him, loving the small blush that was slowly making its way onto Elmer’s cheeks.
“Actually, he didn’t say you’d be near as cute as you are.” Spot stopped dead in his tracks.
“Excuse me?” Now it was Spot’s turn to blush. Elmer leaned even closer to Spot, making the distance between them almost nonexistent. Spot could feel Elmer’s breath brush his face. He glanced around and noticed the area had mostly cleared out, everyone headed to the seats to see the big action taking place on the track. He looked back to Elmer, who had not moved away even an inch.
“He said you were just okay looking. Makes sense because he’s alright got a guy back in Manhattan. But he was either lying to me or blind, because you are not just okay.” Elmer laughed when Spot looked down at his shoes.
“You really think?”
“Of course!” Elmer exclaimed. “You’re so hot Spottie! God, when I first saw you at the bridge I thought for sure you were either an angel or a joke sent to mess with me by Race. I thought I was going to do something dumb if I didn’t get out of there quick.”
“You’re lying, and you keep sweet talking like that and this could go a whole new direction. Spot refused to believe that anyone thought of him that way. Everyone was always either too scared of him, or was just a really good friend, like Race or Hotshot.
“I’m not. I’ll show you if ya want. This is your turf, surely you know an quiet alley or an abandoned building we could go to. Just lead the way.” Elmer put a hand on Spot’s bicep, squeezing lightly and making a comical face for extra effect.
Spot laughed at the ridiculousness and brushed off his arm.
“But really, would ya like to go somewhere?” Elmer’s eyebrows shot up quickly when Spot gave him a questioning look. “No I mean, we don’t actually have to do any of that, I just meant like, to talk…or maybe we could…” Before he could finish the sentence, Spot was grabbing his arm and hauling him out of the Sheepshead. Spot was leading him towards the Brooklyn lodging house, checking over his shoulder to see if anyone was watching, Elmer laughing in his grip.
What he failed to notice was a smirking Race from the outside of the Sheepshead, smoking his cigar, watching his friend get pulled across Brooklyn, a knowing smile on his face. The crows erupting into cheers grabbed his attention, and he disregarded the two boys running across the town.
