A bout of giggles woke me up. It took a moment to remember what had gone down with Anderson previously and that's why I was at Liam’s place. I blinked groggily, taking in my surroundings. Four rather amused looking boys were staring at me expectantly and I had no idea why until I looked over and saw Liam waking up as well. Oh. That's what the looks were for.
"So we're not going to the club to get Ni a bird then tonight?" Harry said laughing, actually more of a cackle. I saw Liam blush and say "Shit. Didn't realize how late it'd gotten." I silently giggled before returning to the conversation. I saw Louis shoot me a wink and I stuck my tongue out at him while Liam ushered the boys into the kitchen. I probably looked like a proper mess so I snuck off to the bathroom to try and look decent. I was right, I looked horrid.
Liam POV
"Lads, I totally forgot. I'm so sorry." I apologized. Louis, as usual, ignored me and went straight to question mode. "Why were you and Claire sleeping together??" He asked trying to keep a straight face as the others giggled like school girls.
I hit him on the shoulder. Quite hard too actually. "Shut it." I said, trying to surpress a smile. They all giggled again. Right bunch of prats they were. "Anyway. You all need to leave." I said ushering them to the door.
"What? Why? We just got here." Niall protested. "How'd you even get in here anyway?" I shot back. "Didn't lock it." Harry said breezily. I muttered a curse under my breath.
"Back to my point. You need to leave. Claire's really upset right now and she was crying and I was with her so now I feel like I need to help her feel okay. You guy's will be fine without me."
A/N: Sorry this is posted super late! You can also read this fic on wattpad too just go here
They were all a bit taken aback but they'd deal. "If you want to know why, talk to Pez or El, ok?" They all nodded. "Have fun with your bird." Louis sang before slipping out of the room so I couldn't hit him again. "Someone kill him for me, yeah?" I said to the boys before they laughed and followed behind him.
"They have to catch me first!" I heard Louis yell from down the hall. I rolled my eyes and looked at the clock for the first time properly and it was half four. They'd been asleep for a solid fiveish hours.
Claire POV
After leaving the bathroom Liam was still at the door so I decided to have a look at my phone. Bad idea. Actually, a terrible idea. Although I'd deleted his number I still knew it by heart and he had called me fifteen times already.
I sighed in frustration, chucking my phone into the opposite couch. "Urgh!" I nearly screamed.
Then I looked up and saw Liam staring at me. Awesome. Way to not appear crazy Claire. Not. "Sorry." I mumbled into my hands.
He took a seat next to me and pulled me close to him. "Checking your phone was probably not the best move.." he said quietly.
"I know." I agreed. "I think I cracked it. I needed a new one anyway. And I should really change my number." He nodded. "Alright. Do you want to do that tomorrow?" He asked in a soft voice. I nodded and curled into him. He just felt so safe and warm.
Liam POV
I smiled as Claire nestled into me. She fit so nicely. I knew she'd want to vent. I was good at that. The lads did it all the time to me. But this was a bit different and would not consist of man problems. Well, there's a first time for everything.
"Claire?" I asked tentatively. She made a noise that she'd heard me as well as looking up to meet my gaze. "Do, do you want to talk about it?" She sighed heavily again before answering.
"I don't want to but I need to..." she bit her lip and I gave her a reassuring squeeze, urging her to go on. "He cheated on me. And he was my everything. He was my best friend and-" she broke off, eyes welling up with tears.
"What else happened C?" I prodded gently. "Before I found out, that it happened, he gave me a promise ring." She stumbled to get the words out and I gasped. That was low. For anyone. “Like an engagement promise ring??” I asked dumbfounded. She nodded slowly. “It was a secret. So no one knew. I don’t want anyone else to know now, okay? Promise me you won’t tell anyone. Not even Perrie, especially not Perrie. She’d go and murder him flat out and I don’t want her to go to prison even for a well deserved murder.” She laughed weakly and I smiled softly.
“That’s really low. I’m sorry Claire. I know that I can’t do anything about it, but I honestly- I’m sorry.” I tried to express how truly pissed I was at Anderson for her. “But, yeah. I swear. I won’t tell anyone.” She nodded slowly. “Thanks Li. The others don’t understand why I was so devastated, now you do. And I’m trusting you, something I haven’t done in a long time.”
I pulled her into a tight hug, showing her that it wasn’t a mistake. “You can trust me, alright Claire? Just know that you can always trust me. I’m doing the same likewise. Wanna know why Dani and I broke up? She said she’d always love me, but she wasn’t in love with me anymore. What does that even mean Claire? Can you translate girl for me?” I asked her, my own emotions cropping up now.
She stared at me with a sad smile. “It means that she was stupid enough to let you go.” She said softly. She reached out and wiped away a small tear that I didn’t realize I’d shed. I hadn’t really talked about my breakup with Dani to anyone. I’d just sort of bottled it just. Just like Claire did. The little voice in my head reminded me.
“Look at us.” She laughed. “A bunch of saps crying over failed relationships.” I smiled. “I think we need to forget them and eat some ice cream.” I said standing up and offering her a hand up. “Agreed. What kind you got?” She said taking it and standing as well.
I walked over the freezer and opened it. “Looks like cookie dough?” I laughed. “I know you’d probably want chocolate but I’m out.” “S’okay.” She smiled. “I’m not the biggest fan of chocolate ice cream anyway.” “You sure you’re a girl??” I teased. “Shut up.” She hit me lightly. “You can not like spoons and I’ll be over here not liking chocolate ice cream.” “Fair point.” I laughed, using a fork to serve it.
I handed her a bowl and rummaged through my drawer to see if I had any spoons. She put out a hand to stop me. “It’s fine. A fork is fine.” She said taking the one from my bowl and going to sit on the couch. I laughed at her cheeky move and grabbed a new one, going to join her on the couch.
