I am indeed alive and back on the grind, last year was a TRIP. In the span of my first year of law school; I cried, got pregnant and had a baby, considered dropping out, did not get a summer internship, had no idea if I was cut out for this kinda life.

BUT now I work full time, still go to law school in the evening, and take care of a small human (crazy). I did have doubts about continuing and whether or not it would be worth it, but I knew if I didn’t go back I would probably regret it. So here I am, and back to it!

Buckle up for the journey.

Just took the worst exam I’ve ever taken in my entire academic career. Not just because it was hard, but because I honestly cannot tell you whether I passed or failed this class.

This professor has a cheat code in the curve because he knows just how to grade it so 10+ people fail every year in his classes.

For reference, in every other class, no more than 4 people fail, if any fail at all.

I think if I have to retake the class with him (he’s the only prof who teaches this class for full time students) I will have to ask my therapist to up my meds.

Pride Month is coming up so what better way to celebrate than with some cutesy fruits :D

I would like to present to you Fruit Punch PreCure :D

I drew Cures Fraise, Citrus and Cherry for an Inktober, and I loved making those drawings (Cure Citrus had a different one), I liked their designs and bright yummy colors. Therefore, I made a “print” for each girl.

For the actual story, they work on and help run a juice/smoothie bar, called The Oshaberry (it’s a pun on the Japanese word oshaberi (おしゃべり) meaning chatting/chatter and the English word berry). They all have special eyelashes and eyebrows because I first designed them while watching Rambu’s ( I love their stuff :D )“Wait For Me II” animatic, and the shot of the faces of the ensemble inspired me. Therefore, different eyelashes and eyebrows :]

Otome Hatsukoi is Cure Fraise

“The PreCure of Strawberries! Cure Fraise!”

“Ichigo no Purikyua! Kyua Fureizu!”

“いちごのプリキュア！キュアフレイズ！”

Our lead cure is sweet and friendly to match the fruit. To Google Translate, Fraise and Phrase sound the same when those words are inserted English to Japanese, so she also loves striking up a conversation with people, and makes sure they feel included and comfortable. I gave her big fluffy hair because I imagined that she was shy, so it was styled to hide herself with, so now when she gets discouraged, she proceeds to hide herself and becomes silent and distant. She’s 17 years old.

Etymology:

Otome (meaning maiden) is a reference to Tochiotome, the most widely produced strawberry type in the Tochigi Prefecture.

Hatsukoi is reference to a luxurious Japanese White Strawberry called Hatsukoi no Kaori (meaning The Scent of First Love). They are very sweet and juicy, have a tropical scent, and tend to develop a blush pink color, hence the name.

Fraise is French for Strawberry

“Remon no Purikyua! Kyua Shitorasu!”

To match the lemon’s sour taste, she’s nonchalant and frank. She often doesn’t take things too seriously and is pretty calm and relaxed. She prioritizes honesty, so she often doesn’t hold back on what needs to be said. Because she doesn’t take things too seriously, she’s also pretty helpful because she doesn’t worry about what could be stopping her from helping out, and as seen as dependable. She’s 17 1/2 years old.

(Insert blueberry themed name) is Cure Azure

“Burūberī no Purikyua! Kyua Azūru!”

“ブルーベリーのプリキュア！キュアアズール！”

I don’t really have a personality that intentionally goes with blueberries’ taste or color, I just gave her one based on the fact that I always see them in bunches :P

She’s frenetic and creative . She’s a fast thinker and a problem solver, with various ideas going on in her mind. She adores thinking of new flavors and products for The Oshaberry, and genuinely wants to own her own business one day. She’s often riddled with anxiety that’s often caused by her own thoughts (definitely not self projecting here why are you looking at me like that 😶) She’s 17 years old.

(Insert first name) Koshu is Cure Grapevine

“The PreCure of Grapes! Cure Grapevine!”

“Budō no Purikyua! Kyua Gurēpubain!”

“ぶどうのプリキュア！キュアグレープバイン！”

The Queen of Juicy Gossip, there are so many things she hears through the grapevine. Like Otome, she commonly enjoys a good conversation, and enjoys spreading some of that gossip to the customers. Aside from that, she’s also sassy and detail-oriented. She’s got a quick wit and is daring and lively, and pays close attention to every minute detail. She’s 18 years old.

Etymology:

Koshu is a Japanese grape variety often grown in Yamanashi, Japan’s leading wine region

(Insert first name) Kozakura is Cure Cherry

“The PreCure of Cherries! Cure Cherry!”

“Sakuranbo no Purikyua! Kyua Cherī!”

“さくらんぼのプリキュア！キュアチェリー！”

Kozakura is flirty and introverted. She’s a social butterfly and enjoys playful teasing and enjoys engaging with people, with the flirty playfulness increasing while working at The Oshaberry to hopefully gain traction for the place. When she’s alone, she pulls a full 180, her social battery dead. She’s appears unapproachable, no longer putting on her “act”, and has a sour disposition, while still tries to act with human decency. She’s 18 years old.

Etymology:

Kozakura — meaning: cherry tree.

(Insert apple themed name) is Cure Smith

“Ringo no Purikyua! Kyua Sumisu!”

“りんごのプリキュア！キュアスミス！”

Hmm all right I can’t just have another girl that has a sour disposition sometimes or has blunt honesty, hmm what to do 🤔 I GOT IT

(Apple girl) is nurturing and a homebody. She’s very affectionate, often checking up on the wellbeing of her friends and those around her. She’s extremely comforting, and is very popular with the younger customers, (blueberry girl) and (cherry girl) when she’s tired. She’s her happiest at home with family and relaxing. She prefers small sweet gatherings compared to big extreme parties. She’s 19 years old. (Do you get the joke now 😏)

Etymology:

Smith refers to Granny Smith, the green apples (the superior apples in you didn’t know)

One day, I found the 1980 Strawberry Shortcake cartoons,became endeared af (FUCKIN RUSSI TAYLOR VOICE ACTED STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE) then redesigned them with Strawberry Shortcake in mind

While trying to color Cure Azure, I did two tries, one with more realistic blueberry colors (hence the usage of purple) and one with more commercialized, cartoon blueberry with more vibrant blues. I went to a mix of both.

This is the Inktober drawing I drew Cure Citrus with. The other girl is Cure Lemony from Citrus PreCure. I told my friends that I really liked this drawing because “I like[d] how I had very different color schemes for characters with the same theme. Cure Lemony has colors you would actually see in nature. Cure Citrus has those fun vibrant colors you’ll see in like Strawberry Shortcake, or a cartoon lemon. Plus there’s the fact that Cure Lemony has naturally colored and curly hair (including fun vibrant curly strands) while Citrus has straight bright yellow hair.”
