Karasuno 2nd Years
Notes: My entry for day four (firsts) of @karasunosecondyearsfanweek!! It isn’t even 29 July anymore, but well, please humbly accept my terrible late entry :”
---------------
1. First Day
There were seven of them in total. Seven first-years, standing just outside the gym, pushing at each other to just open the door. These were faces they would see for the next three years.
There were seven of them in total. Six would leave, four would return, and seven would become five.
But at that moment? There were seven fresh faces, not quite familiar yet, just outside the gym.
2. First Day of Preliminaries
None of them were regulars that season and weren't likely to play at all, but they were excited nonetheless. Preliminaries had finally begun. The third-years may not have been very enthusiastic, but they had worked hard, and the second-years had contagious enthusiasm. Sendai City Gymnasium was packed with teams from all over Miyagi, and the hallways were a flurry of brightly colored jerseys and loud chatter. Watching their senpais on the court giving their all and seeing their opponents pulling off cool tactics fired them up, and they vowed, then, to become regulars.
3. First Day Gone
Tanaka Ryuunosuke was alone. Noya had gotten himself suspended, and didn't plan to return without Asahi-san. The others had given up. He was the last remaining member in his year. It was so tempting to throw in the towel too, and let his year just fade out of existence, but the senpais looked devastated enough. They'd always been so patient and so resilient, even when Coach Ukai Sr. retired, leaving them with no coach. He wanted to be like that too, to be a senpai that his kouhais could look up to. The club was on the verge of shutting down, but he resolved to see it through to the end.
4. First Day In Charge
The third years were gone. Graduated. Now it was up to the five of them to uphold their senpais' legacy. The team had finally made it to Nationals, and their new goal was to take the team further. It was a lot of pressure, but they had each other. At the helm was Ennoshita, working tirelessly, and by his side was Tanaka and the others. There were so many challenges to come, a new team to work with, and soon, new first years with their own strengths. There was so much to be done, but looking at the faces surrounding him, Ennoshita knew that he had a team he could trust to work hard and do their best.
5. First Day (Reprise)
There were five faces on the screens in front of them, each one with a smile on their face. Five first-years, miles apart from each other, all pursuing different directions.
There were five of them in total. They'd gone through thick and thin, at each others' sides for three years, and now they were apart.
But after all they'd been through? The five of them knew they would always be together in spirit, there for each other.
