May you explain 2p!Dreammare to me? I've only seen Pink? Nightmare? Strawberry?
Yes!! Ofc!! I love 2p!dreammare!!! 🥹 It's a bit much so don't feel obligated to read or respond btw asdfghjkl
The 2p!dreamtale twins are attributed to @/ASD6671_ on X (formerly twitter ☠️). There's some content of the 2p!twins interacting with the og!dt!twins (and some cute dreammare on it's own) over on their abandoned account, but for the 2p!dreammare dynamic specifically, A LOT of it is picked up through sub context.
Here's some links! Though you can probably find it in the thread of the first link lol
Comic: Part 1 | Part 2 (cw suggestive) | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5
Strawberry Drawing: Crying (there are way older drawings but I didn't wanna link them)
I really adore their ship dynamic though!! I talk about it a lot here and in general my 2p!dreammare tag :3 I'll share more if you're interested 🥹👉👈 /np
do u have some more 2pdreammare thoughts to spare..
Okay I know I said I was going to give you pregnancy au dreammare, but I didn’t like the characterization, so here’s some fluffier and more general 2p!dreammare instead. But then it became an entire essay SORRY
Very inspired by https://bsky.app/profile/ryohikari.bsky.social interp of their dynamic
Strawberry always physically loves being in Bubblegum’s presence. Whatever he’s doing, Bubblegum’s close by, whether he’s been dragged there or Strawberry followed him. He does whatever he wants, just in the company of his brother.
While Bubblegum is the opposite, he’s always thinking about Strawberry. Strawberry’s presence is always mentally there. Literally everything he does is motivated by his brother, it’s insane.
If you’ve read the comic where he seeks out DT!NM's company. It’s clear he has a gaping hole in his heart for his brother. He wants his brother’s approval, he wants to take care of his brother. He wants his brother’s respect, and even more tragic, the soft love and life they had before the Apple incident.
Before the village, they were obviously, forest gremlins. Strawberry made mud pies out of dirt, water, clay, twigs, and berries, and Bubblegum would eat it up with stars in his eyes.
Bubblegum would collect flowers for Strawberry. And Strawberry, so nonsensical, tied them up and hangs them from their mother’s branches. While he had simply wanted to stare at the flowers when laying beneath her shade or while looking at the stars, he finds he also preserves their love as the plants dry instead of simply wither.
*note that Bubblegum isn't a big smiler, especially as a child. After he grows up, he's definitely a gentle smile guy when something has his approval or pleases him, but he most often has a neutral expression on his face.
*He has a dead pan stare at the ground, straight lined mouth, although a small, nervous blush when he hands the flowers over. When Strawberry beams in pride and joy, squeals, and hugs them and then Bubblegum, his face flushes blue and his mouth opens and closes in awe with love, quiet joy, and shyness, as if he weren't allowed to feel so proud of himself for bringing his brother joy. He still doesn't smile though (not a bad thing, just not how he expresses himself when it comes to his brother).
I've stated this before, but Bubblegum finds himself revolving around Strawberry. He wouldn't be surprised if his brother were the one to hang the moon and stars in the night sky and sew the clouds together for protection from the harsh sun, and yet convinced the sun to allow them to bask in its warm rays.
Post apple incident, Bubblegum doesn’t find Strawberry ideal (which is why he tries to replace him. Ironically, he is the one who doesn’t approve of Strawberry, yet Strawberry approves of him.) Bubblegum doesn't see good in him like before. In fact, even though his au has been slaughtered and his mother killed, he feels like the biggest loss is the abomination that is now his brother.
Those same night skies, clouds, and sun are in fact shrouded in red, smoke, and ash. His world, Strawberry, has collapsed in on itself, and what's left is this crazy and cruel being with no regard for anyone but himself (Bubblegum is not wrong though, Strawberry is all those things).
Needless to say, he abhors Strawberry now. His actions now are either motivated by spiting Strawberry and/or honoring the child he used to be. Fighting Strawberry, grocery shopping and domestic chores, helping people, that's him doing both.
Seeking DT!NM out, that's him spiting Strawberry and longing for his brother. Shopping for flowers, that's him honoring and longing for his brother.
Strawberry, on the other hand. LOVES Bubblegum!! He loves him so much!! He always wants to spend time with Bubblegum even when his brother just gives him the silent treatment (in a bad way,,,, they are definitely talks x listens LOL) or spits vitriol at him.
He sincerely loves his brother, but also doesn't really respect his wishes and what he's saying. Insults and genuine criticism just slide off him. His brother's valid complaints aren't considered and Strawberry continues his behavior. It drives Bubblegum insane.
Although he also wants what Bubblegum wants. His brother's approval, respect, love, to take care of him. Their soft and loving domestic life.
But Strawberry's been irreversibly changed because of the abuse he experienced and the apple incident. The reasons he doesn't listen and accommodate his brother stem from this. He did kill everyone in self defense. He ate his apples because it was either that, or die, and he was not going to die that day. And Bubblegum refuses to understand that.
Although, with the newfound power, he continues killing and committing crimes for his own pleasure. He has no regard for other life because he doesn't have to. He's immune to physical harm and death now, there are no consequences to crime. He can do whatever he wants, and he's going to take advantage of this even to the detriment of others. This, Bubblegum is reasonably angry at.
He sees the consequence of Strawberry's actions being they can't have a nice life together anymore (and he's not wrong in some regard (he's wrong when it comes to the apple incident, he insists a different solution was possible but Bubblegum will never have to fear death like Strawberry did and he never will with Strawberry around).
The only exception is when they’re apart!!! Strawberry is constantly thinking about Bubblegum and worries incessantly about him. Although, Bubblegum doesn’t change, every action and thought he takes, Strawberry is somehow interwoven into them and Bubblegum finds himself counting down the seconds until his brother finds him again, even if not experiencing the same separation anxiety. (He would only really panic over Strawberry’s absence if there was a legitimate need to.)
Surprise, surprise, I like this a little trauma related. The apple incident occurred because they were separated, isolated, and even turned against each other. Strawberry who already loved Bubblegum's company pre-apple incident and already felt unpleasant at Bubblegum's absences, sticks by Strawberry extra now. He feels like his feelings as a child were right. Something bad happened because they weren't together. So now Strawberry's super worried for him even if it’s irrational. He always wants to be near Bubblegum not only for his company, but so he's always able to protect him!!
Strawberry would actually never hurt his brother. Although Bubblegum doesn’t feel the same. He’s more than willing to.
If Strawberry ever does it's not with malicious intent. Especially when Strawberry invades Bubblegum’s space, and does things with/to him against his wishes. Be it a simple hug or otherwise.
Strawberry is more than willing to slaughter anyone for Bubblegum, although Bubblegum hates this. He doesn't want people dying, people will want justice and Strawberry is unwilling to give it to them.
Anyway, here are some other tidbits. I have SO much about them in my head...
Strawberry’s love language is physical affection and quality time.
While Bubblegum’s love language is acts of service and quality time.
Words of affection play a role in their dynamic though. Strawberry loves giving words of affection. Bubblegum used to like this, but doesn't really take them seriously now. He finds it annoying and ingenuine even if Strawberry is being genuine when he says he loves and adores his brother. While Bubblegum never really gave out words of affection before, he only insults Strawberry now.
EVERYTHING here is all pre-relationship too.... Post-relationship where they both mellow out is my beloved!! They balance each other out so well!!
Also, rather than being a negativity/positivity balance, I actually associate them more with chaos and order. But as with everything I wrote, this is just a personal preference.
(Dream yells and screams. Nightmare minimizes the severity of his words. So Dream screams louder, speaks harsher. Nightmare can’t brush him off now)
In the end Dream can’t stand it, can’t stand him. In a moment of indignant rage, he renounces his brother on the spot. He rips his cape apart.
One half he throws away, where it goes he doesn’t know, the wind takes it, it flies off a cliff, washed away in a river, a volcano for all he cares.
The other half he tries to rip again. This time Nightmare comes at him, grabbing his arms, pleading. Okay. He’s sorry. He’s in the wrong. It’s his fault - like it always is. You’re right, like you always are. Dream? Dream, please-
Dream swings a few pathetic punches (successfully tearing the half in his hands. He holds them tightly in his fists) and a few pathetic kicks, but retreats. Ashamed of the tears running down his face and throat clogging up.
Nightmare’s knees buckles. Yes, it’s true. He is plague and scum. The scud of the earth and society’s worst tumor. And he’s not even lovable to his own brother.
He cries alone.
When he gets up he wanders. He searches. He finds the missing half of the “magical” cape he made so long ago. And he finds a little bit of himself too.
(But it’s still true his brother doesn’t know where the other half is)
And after Dream’s done crying alone, his tears soaking what’s left of his cape in his hands. He fixes his resolve. Then he fixes what’s left of what he has.
Which is a memory. A memory of a village, his other half, and who he was.
He fixes up the cape into what he is now and who he stands for now. He swears on this cape he will get vengeance. For the villagers, the tree, his home, and his brother.
He wraps the cape around his shoulders. The weight feels different but it’s one only he can carry. For justice. For his brother. For justice. For his brother.
i am curious about all your wips but.... will u talk about 1, 2, 4 and 8 specifically (teehee)
Hi, thank you ☺️!!! Here’s the first one! I’ll post the others separately!
1 - Fcdpmglgls
This is actually my magical girl fic (Sunshade on a03 under dreammare_is_my_jam). I’ve been working on it… I swear. I actually fell in love with the 2P!Side Story… which I’ve only posted the tags (Sry to that one person who looked at it RIP).
Some lore (which is subject to change at any given moment lol):
There are two types of magical girls: the radiant and deviant. The Radiant are fueled by positive emotions and use a 5-pronged star crystal pin to transform. The Deviant’s are fueled by negative emotions. While the Deviant’s transformation crystal’s prongs grow as they accumulate skills and power (Single spike for weakest, 2 stronger, 3 even more, 4 strongest). But both can achieve secondary transformations.
Dream and the Stars are Radiants while Nightmare and her girls are Deviants.
Nightmare has a plan of world domination using a power which only appears every few hundred years (which she needs to hunt down and secure). Dream’s a bit more worried about getting Nightshade to crush her beneath her heel (and cradle her sister lovingly).
Here’s a list of the aesthetics I tried to imagine for them
Horror - cottage core -> Spinebreaker
Dust - cloaked -> Shadow Ghost
Killer - Military → higher ranking -> Dark Striker
Error - doll/stitched/doll maker -> Puppeteer
Nightmare - Supervillainess (she gets to vary hers) -> “Nightshade”
Cross - Magica Knight (after betraying the deviants)
Other notes:
- In the first chapter, NM mentioned wanting to know where Dream is so she doesn’t accidentally attack the area her sister’s in.
- NM actually really likes Magica Sunshine and what she stands for (as idealistic as it is). She likes fighting her just as much (although it can get annoying when it actually gets in her way).
- Nightmare’s a 4-pronged star deviant already.
Meanwhile the 2P girls have their own story ;)
They live a few towns away, probably. Bubblegum’s a Radiant magical girl while Strawberry acquired both a Radiant and Deviant crystal and uses it to do whatever she wants, really.
The snippet kind of explains the gist of it:
“How about we play a game, then?”
Bubblegum hates games as of late, but striking down what her partner wants to do is the twelfth rule of what not to do on a first date. Besides, it’s Strawberry, it won’t be that bad, “Yeah, of course.”
She giggles and the light tinkle of bells eases the tension in Bubblegum’s bones. “Here are the rules.” She props her face on her hands and grins, wide and playful. “I tell you what I did today, and for every one I say, you” - The light in her pale rose-colored eyes twinkle mischievously, drawing Bubblegum in by the absurdity but adorability of the situation - “compliment me.”
The sunlight cascades upon Strawberry, framing her like an angel. Her pretty bones glitter - her make-up is on point as always - like crystalized honey. Her ever-present grace shines as she shifts forward with delicate hands holding herself up, awaiting the other’s answer.
Bubblegum is going to win. “Okay.”
Strawberry reaches her foot from under the table and slides her ankle against Bubblegum’s. Bubblegum jolts and her vision blurs as all her senses focus solely on Strawberry catching her foot, linking them together. Her body pulls itself taut and her joints tight like bolts on a robot.
“First,” Strawberry makes an inquisitive noise, before shooting her shot with pinpoint accuracy, “I noticed how cute you dressed today.” She slides her leg forward and back, rubbing their taluses against each other.
The motion sends electricity through Bubblegum’s body and a shot of heat to her stomach. The words stir the butterflies in her chest, setting off a flurry inside.
A double attack!
Strawberry thinks she looks cute today! Like that wasn’t exactly what Bubblegum was trying to do. And-and! Hnnng, are ankles supposed to be able to do that to an entire body? Although Bubblegum’s not sure if she actually wants to breathe again. Aaahh! Her face is probably lighting up like a christmas tree!
Strawberry looks expectantly at her, a small grin on her face, and Bubblegum fumbles over her answer. “You uh-” Saying she looks cute, adorable, pulchritudinous is too basic! She looks like a goddess descended down from her strawberry heaven! Pygmilion failed to craft beauty because she exists! She is perfect ivory dappled with pink crystal sunlight! “Um.”
But that’s too much! She’ll think Bubblegum’s a total nerdy creep! Middle ground! Ah!
Aaaah! Bubblegum’s breath catches with another stroke against her leg. This was too much-
Blasted through the cafe and the ears of all its patrons: “Breaking News! The “Pink Menace” attacks again! Evacuation orders for-”
I love it because Dream’s hate is born out of a love so deep it reaches the other side of the earth. Of course Dream hates Nightmare. He COULD hate Nightmare on a basic level, he hurts people and is a general menace, but that’s anyone with Nightmare. Dream hates him because he loved him so much he wanted to change the way the world turns. He wanted to tear the stars down so Nightmare could enjoy them whenever he wanted to.
His hate was born from a deep, profound love, special to them. That’s why he hates Strawberry so much.
Besides, it’s a bitter thing, to see his entire world spoil and turn rotten.
Nudity as a representative symbol of the boy’s and their relationship.
When they are first born they are born bare. There exists no barrier between them. They lay themselves bare, unabashedly to their counterpart. They exist fully with their delamor.
They cuddle, tussle, and sleep with each other unobstructed by anything, tangible or otherwise.
Ribs catch on each other. Bone meets bone with every touch. Kisses hold the same intimacy as locking pinkie fingers. There exists no shame for their forms, only a shared appreciation of beauty.
Until the villagers arrive and decide hooooo these boys need clothes. Everyone wears clothes, it’s nice and offers protection. Besides, it looks good. Every civilized person should live with them.
Hmmm, sure, okay. The boys naively agree and thank the villagers for the gifts. And just like that the first barrier goes up.
Now, cuddles have a thin layer of cloth between them. There’s no more grabbing the other’s ribs or clavicles, it’s sleeves and lapels now. Which they can appreciate in its own way, but it’s not the same.
Then more barriers go up.
They can’t lay themselves bare anymore. There’s something mortal in the way. They live ashamed and hidden, especially to each other.
Nightmare hides the bullying, the pains of rejection, the isolation. The physical marks remain hidden under the cloth that lets them appear.
Dream can’t admit the pressures of the villagers are building and he’s going to break. He’s not playing anymore, he’s working everyday and barely bringing anything home to show for it.
They can see the shape of their problems, but not what fills it. Not the ins or outs. The blockage was built, and they had no tools or had any idea to get rid of it.
These barriers and tensions build and build and build until the apple-incident.
They fight, hurt, and flee and their barriers keep building up and up until they come crashing down.
Post-reconciliation, only after they can bare their souls out to one another can they fully exist wholly to each other, but not unabashedly. The effects of the mortal world still influences their emotions and relationship.
But they’ll get there. As they are, no mortal can get in the way of what they have. Not now, or ever. Together they’ll work to exist wholly with one another again.
