Happy Pi Day!
MacGyver Review: 3×14 "Father+Bride+Betrayal"
Spoilers
First of all, I wasn't as upset as I was afraid I would be after last night's episode. Which is fine by me, I was prepared after that teaser trailer. I still had all the feels so that was good. If I hadn't seen that trailer, this would be a totally different review.
Every scene between Jack and Riley were precious gold and I loved every one of them!!!! Did anyone catch that look Jack gave Riley as Alonzo walked his daughter down the aisle? You can't tell me he wasn't imagining walking Riley down the aisle one day (and the possibility that it may never happen...) And later when he was saying goodbye, and she was trying to be strong and put on a brave face, but just crumbled as he told her he loved her and how proud he was of the woman she's become. That kiss on the cheek and hug!!!! *DEAD* I love dad!Jack!!!! Dad!Jack is the sexiest Jack I always say. 💙💙💙💙
Actually just Riley in general, this was one of my favorite episodes of hers. Picking up on all the subtle clues between Mac and Jack. I like how she's the one that can tell when Mac is lying and when he's upset or something is bothering him. Also the way she told her admirers to get lost and Jack going all protective papa bear.
Mac and Riley!!! All their scenes, I have no words except it was SO GOOD! How concerned he was when he lost contact with her! Riles! Carrying her to the kitchen to make an antidote and then SLICING HIS OWN DANG FINGER FOR THE BLOOD HE NEEDED!!! *chills, literal chills*
This was also one of Bozer's best episodes as well. I mean HOLDING HANDS WITH MAC! (I'm just saying, if Mac offers to hold your hand, you don't question that crap. You do it.) Barging in with the machine guns playing bad guys with Jack. "You in the blue dress. You look good." Matty's face the whole time like "why do I even put up with these idiots" lol
But then with Jack asking him to take care of his Bruce Willis movie collection and Bozer saying that they're not worth anything. "They are to me." That, that quote right there brought on the water works. Because we know how important those "Bruce Willis movies" are to Jack. When he's really asking him to take care of the most important thing in his life, Mac.
You just know that during this whole mission Mac is just trying to stay calm and collected knowing that in less than twenty-four hours his best friend is leaving for quite possibly a very long time on a very dangerous mission and he's just looking at Jack trying to memorize as many details as he can, but it hurts and he doesn't want to think about it, wants to make it go away, and keep Jack here with him since he can't go with Jack. I think Mac was the one that needed a hand to hold, not Bozer, something to make his mind stop racing with every bad scenario that could happen to Jack while they're separated. Okay I'll stop.
I love how willing Mac was to drop everything in his life to join Jack and help him hunt down Tiberius ?? Mac wanting to protect Jack, and Jack not being willing to let Mac risk his life for himself.
I know in the end I was hoping to get a hug between Mac and Jack and admitting that they do love each other (like brothers or father-son I think, but how ever you see it), but I think it actually made more sense the way it did play out. Jack inviting Mac over "to say goodbye to a good friend" and then asking Mac to specifically NOT mention it to the others, knowing that would be all Mac would think about for the next 48 hours and just seeing Mac get more and more closed off and tense and angry through the mission. Like when he revealed that it was Alonzo's own mother that had poisoned him -and Riley- he looked ready to snap. Wondering how family could hurt one another like that perhaps?
I don't think Jack could have left, or Mac would have let him leave, if there had been a hug. I think Mac would fight with every ounce of willpower he had not to lose the one person in his life he could trust more than anyone, the person he loved most in the entire world. But the way Mac's eyes were filled with tears, his voice rough, Jack visibly having to clench his jaw to keep from crying... And then just walking away alone trying to keep a brave face when you know he's scared to death that he may never see his family again and Jack really doesn't want to die, but he's doing what's right. Bravo. You've killed us with feels. So thanks for that.
Overall, despite it possibly being Jack's last episode, it was one of my favorites, if not my favorite. I'm genuinely surprised by that. And for the record, I don't think it will be the last we see of Jack. 😉
I don't know if this is kinda crack or not. A bit of angst, a bit of crack, a bit of hot Nygma) I own nothing Music: Sam Tsui - Britney Spears Medley
Please tag your Jack Dalton Hate?!
I don't know how tonight's episode's gonna go. It doesn't matter. Either you like Jack or you don't, and if you don't that's fine. But if you want to talk about how the show should continue without Jack or possible replacements, etc, etc, please tag it as #antijackdalton, so that those of us who don't want to see it can blacklist it. Boom, peace and quiet in the MacGyver fandom. If you want to @me for asking nicely that's fine. I'm not trying to stir the pot. Just trying to make it to where each fan can enjoy MacGyver the way they want. M'kay? Cool. If you could reblog this to get the word out that'd be great.
Honestly still shaken up that he started crying. He needs to love me less or something. That was hard to witness over something that I literally don't care about.
I submitted this poll to a popular poll blog but it'll take forever to get posted and I'm impatient so I'm going to attempt to post it here.
