i’m starting a series where i make character playlists… first off here’s
Alastor’s Broadcast
i’ve been so busy with the final stretch of uni, here’s my alastor playlist. a bunch of songs i feel like you’d hear in one of his broadcasts (minus the screams). they aren’t really alastor-coded but they’re probably more like “he would listen to this” kinda songs.
recommendations are welcome
Billie Holiday · Compilation · 1933 · 230 songs.
Various Artists · Compilation · 2008 · 172 songs.
Art Tatum · Album · 1933 · 13 songs.
in this chill segment of my generations series I add some more jazz.
mainly instrumental jazz, because I find this genre so cosy and chill
Watch "Raymond Scott - Powerhouse [mp3]" on YouTube
This song actually consists of two distinct sections. Powerhouse A and Powerhouse B. Powerhouse B is slightly better known. It's sampled at the beginning of "Bus to Beelzebub" by Soul Coughing (one of any artists covering or sampling this section). Powerhouse B was also used in many Warner Brothers cartoons.(That's where I recognized it from when I heard Soul Coughing)
Powerhouse A was also used in numerous cartoons. It has a very upbeat tempo and sounds drastically different from Powerhouse B. The two separate parts are meant to be played together though and they sound darn good that way.
First performance in 1937 (Raymond Scott Quintet) still appearing in cartoons 75 years later.
(The song actually goes A-B-A/reprise)
