Accomplished Today

Finished The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Vol 1 (liked it but the trope of ‘dude is a dick to woman in power position so obviously he fancies her’ is not my taste at all and that was one subplot which i could’ve done without, tbh, but it was still worth the read and im curious as to how we’re going to discuss it in class!)

Started & Finished Girl Meets Boy by Ali Smith, even put sticky notes in to keep track of characters & main ideas/themes (it has a happy ending, thank fucking god. got some internalised homophobia from the sis of the gay main character and expressed homophobia from some dudes for like 10 pages during which i wanted to throw up so much but over all it was really good, even if it was told a bit weirdly, no highlighting speech from description text and all that.)

Read an excerpt called Compulsory Hetersexuality & Lesbian Existence which was interesting but didn’t really yield anything new to me, just added some names of people who did research into these areas/wrote about it and like, the knowledge that someone actually does write about this and that the problems i’ve read about on tumblr are actually like, a thing that people have taken notice of so much so that they write about it in academical contexts.

Did my daily Duolingo & then some, i think i did 290XP today :D [tested out of 2 things though, so that might explain that haha]

Got the book on Realism from the library and I’m going to browse through it a little, but I’ve got strong recommendations to not go into that course and rather go into another one which is supposed to be more interesting... dont know yet, will have to check it out myself though first!
