31 Day Redwall Challenge, Cont.

2. Which was your first book, and how did you get into Redwall?

Redwall, the audio cassette version. When I was 10, I saw it sitting on a shelf in the library and thought the cover looked cool. Brought it home, listened to the whole thing, and was enraptured. I had no idea it was a series until my mom said she’d found a sequel (Mossflower, which, as it turned out, was technically a prequel). I got hooked, joined DAB and a couple other Redwall forums, and the rest, as they say, is history. :)

3. Which was your favorite book?

It’s nearly impossible to choose! I'd say it’s probably a tie between Rakkety Tam and Taggerung. The plot was so unique in both of those books, and I adored the characters.

4. Least favorite book?

Outcast of Redwall, hands down. Hated it from the first time I read it. I liked Sunflash a lot, but Veil and Bryony’s personalities completely ruined that book for me. Plus the plot was too similar to Salamandastron for my taste.

5. How about your favorite female character?

Man, there’s so many great ones! Like Jess, Constance, Ranguvar, Lady Cregga... But if I had to choose, I’d probably pick Russa Nodrey. I wish she could have stuck around longer.

6. Favorite male character?

Martin the Warrior, obviously! But in all seriousness, the Log a Logs and Skippers are some of my favorites too.

7. Least favorite character?

TBH, probably a vole. Yeah the main villains were all horrible, but vole characters ended up being traitors most of the time, and traitors are the worst.

Day 1 of the 31-Day Redwall Challenge

Better late than never, I guess? But these books impacted me so much, I have to do this challenge.

In 200 words or less, what would you say to Brian Jacques if he were here right now?

I would say... Thank you. Thank you for writing the books that changed my life, shaped my values and ideals, and brought me friendship at a time when I felt lost and alone. These books also led me to my husband, something I will always be grateful for, and sparked my desire to become a writer. To be honest, I doubt I would be here today at all if it wasn’t for Redwall.

29-Write a letter to your favorite character!! Dear Mister Sunflash, Thank you for being a wonderful example as both a person and as a friend. (that’ll be all since i’m quite bad at words and forming thoughts into them. I really need to work on that.) ~Eira

30-Which cover artist or chapter artist is your favorite? My favorite chapter artist is the one who did the illustrations for the books like High Rhulain and Legend of Luke (don’t remember his name at the moment). Cover artist, I’m not entire sure on but my favorite cover has got to be for Outcast of Redwall (both front and back) so probably that person too.

31-In 200 words or less, what would you say to Brian Jacques if he were here right now? Umm well, I’m pretty bad with words but I would tell him most of all: Thank You for the wonderful series you have created and for all the good things that have come of it; both for me and for other people. You’ve helped us all a lot and created many good friendships and adventures throughout the ages that will continue to last us.

31. In 200 words or less, what would you say to Brian Jacques if he were here right now?

Just two words would be enough: thank you. Thank you for creating this beautiful world for us readers to immerse in. Thank you for putting your heart in Redwall, creating the literal equivalent of being under a warm, soft cover during a freezing winter night. Thank you for making me smiling whenever I feel sad and miserable. Thank you for keeping me company when i felt like an outcast and I had no friends.

31 Day Redwall challenge #27-28

27.  If you were a Dibbun Against Bedtime, what would you do to get out of going to bed?

I’d bribe another Dibbun with some sweets for my personal reserve (collected during my frequent raids in Redwall kitchen) into going for a walk on the walls to create a diversion and keeping the badger mum busy. Then I’ll sneak out of the Abbey to go on an adventure with the warriors of Redwall

 28. Create a slogan for the Long Patrol.

“I can’t believe it’s not a rabbit!”

28. If you were a Dibbun Against Bedtime, what would you do to get out of going to bed? Find a really good hiding place somewhere, possibly under a bed. Because why would they look for a Dibbun Against Bedtime under a bed? Bam! Foolproof. If that’s not a way to buck the system, I don’t know what is.

29. Create a slogan for the Long Patrol I feel they have a few good ones. Namely EULALIA!!! and BLOOD AND VINEGAR!!!!, but something to do with food would be suitable. Something like: Saving all of Mossflower, and Still Home in Time for Tea.

31 Days of Redwall: 26-28

26-If you could be a member of any vermin horde, which would you choose? I love almost all the vermin hordes but for the most part, I would probably sign up for either Cluny’s or Ungatt’s hordes. Cluny and Ungatt are two of my more favorite vermin leaders.

27-If you were a Dibbun Against Bedtime, what would you do to get out of going to bed? Hide under the bed when the lights go out and then sleep out when everyone else is asleep to go raid the kitchens.

28-Create a slogan for the Long Patrol. “We will fight vermin all day, over the hills and far away.”

31 Day Redwall Challenge, Day 27

27. If you were a Dibbun Against Bedtime, what would you do to get out of going to bed?

When I was little, I would often be found sleeping in weird places, like laundry baskets and under tables. I’d probably sneak off (stuffed toy and maybe a blanket in hand) and find myself a strange little corner and sleep there instead!
