My read is that Scratch is intentionally trying to sever Rose's connection to the Horrorterrors - or, more accurately, he's trying to convince her to sever that connection herself.
We haven't talked about it for a while, but the Horrorterrors are currently being slaughtered, most likely by English himself. Scratch is an enemy of the Gods, and he's trying to take their pawn off the board before his master is summoned.

Day #3632 Idlewild - Roseablility Back in the day (1999/2000) People used to love to say shit like “this band is the next Nirvana!” Need less to say they never were, it was always just a small minded scope of how music would be perceived. You were either huge or you were a failure. Idlewild for a short while was being heralded as the next R.E.M. which I always feels like hinders a band more than helps it. It’s like saying Acura is going to be the new Ferrari. Obv Ferrari will always be on top, and you set everyone up for disappointment. My point being. idlewild was no REM but they were a great band, there own great band. Their own interesting sound and I enjoyed them a lot. So next time someone tells you it is the “next” anything take that opportunity to flush that perception down the toilet and formulate your own perceptions of what you think. Go in clean slate and let your own brain take the wheel.
