Please join me in celebrating my husband for his retirement! 🎉🎈🎉Its finally official after being laid off since March - the Myers Lake/Central Stark YMCA abolished his job. Dave started working at what was the CYC (Catholic Youth Council) in October 1983! He began working as the Youth Sports Assistant. After 25 years the Y took over and he worked there as the Director of Youth Sports for an additional 12 years. 37 years (i was 13 when he started working 😳)!!!! I’m so happy he is able to focus on coaching and enjoying life - he’s earned it. Over the years he made life long friends whom we still consider family. Although he didn’t get any recognition from the Y (another example of what a horrible organization they are) I want to make sure everyone knows that he is retired after they let him and many others go for months without any information, health insurance or money! 😡 He misses the fun of sports and the thousands of kids has watched grow up at the CYC/Y, but he certainly does not miss the adults who often make coaching/running leagues a pain. 😝 Due to COVID we can’t have a formal celebration, but we will do something to celebrate him quietly and then bigger next year!!
