The blond walked briskly through the forest, taking a path that only he knew. He stopped in he middle of a wide clearing once he saw a vibrant flash of red.
Dream wasn’t phased as he felt a small weight land on top of his head.
“Hey Tommy.” He greeted, instinctively lifting a hand as he felt the tiny avian scramble to stay upright.
The man frowned and lowered his hand as the blond violently flinch.
“Is it one of those days?” He questioned already knowing the answer.
Tommy’s silence only confirmed it.
Dream stood still, eyes scanning the clearing.
After a moment he walked over to a giant oak tree and slid down until he was sitting.
The man kept his movements deliberate as he carefully reached into his bag and pulled out a sketchbook.
He sat for a moment, thinking, before he started to draw the small flowers he saw around him.
Except for the sounds of his own breathing, everything was quiet.
Dream hated the silence.
He hated the absence of Tommy’s stories and the emptiness that came with it. He hated not knowing what to say.
But most importantly, he hated the people who did this to him.
The people Tommy had called “brothers”.
They were the ones who did this. Who treated Tommy as their own personal marionette.
They took it out on him when their plans went wrong. The person that linked the failure of their doomed nation to Tommy. The one that expected him to pick sides then was angry when he didn’t choose the side of chaos and destruction—
They were the ones responsible.
Dream was snapped out of his spiraling thoughts by the harsh sound of his pencil breaking.
He immediately felt guilty as the avian hybrid tensed.
Forcing himself to take deep breaths, the man set his pencil aside.
He ignored the shifting on his head in order to look over his drawing.
It looked fairly realistic, minus the large streak in the middle of the page.
“The leaves on the stem need to be higher.”
MTommy quietly remarked, now leaning over the human’s head.
“And those flowers normally only have four leaves, not five.”
Dream hummed in acknowledgment as he picked up a new pencil.
Drawing again, he let his thoughts wander.
He found it ironic that Tommy’s true tormentors were so beloved by the community.
Everyone else thought that Dream kidnapped him. They believed that he was torturing the teen.
Too bad the truth was right in front of them and they couldn’t even see it.
Even the two people he once called friends had started to believe the rumors and they had cut all ties with him.
It pained the man to act so cold and calculating, to play into the ruse of the heartless villain.
But Tommy’s safety came first.
“It’s best this way…” he thought.
And Dream wouldn’t have had it any other way.

I mean…. It’s got the smallest amount of fluff…
Hope you enjoyed!
(I actually like the idea that in an au Dream wasn’t torturing Tommy but instead saved him from the abuse that the others caused)
1. Mix mcyt with it! Pick some people to be dragons, or just one, and throw in someone as a scavenger...this could go whatever way and I also don't know what happens in the later books, but alas. This would go better if at least one of them was a Nightwing that was born under moonlight? So they can read minds? You could make it not be I just think the mond reading would come in handy and could be done however...but this is from the dragon perspectives, finding a strange scavenger
2. You use the scavenger's perspective with these dragons and all that....idk what to explain
3. Was just saying use ocs instead of mcyt for the idea
Ooooooo what if Tommy is a night/sky hybrid who can read minds but was disowned by the Nightwings because of his mixed heritage.
He lives with his mother for a bit but one day she is captured and taken away by scavengers. At the time Tommy was too young to do anything but now he’s older and he sees scavengers as pests and despises them.
One day he comes across a scavenger and is about to have a tasty midday snack when he hears a voice loudly pleading and crying. Startled he looks around for the dragon in distress only to realize that the voice is coming from inside his mind. He can read the thoughts of the scavenger.
He reaches out to the scavenger with his mind and although it starts off shaky they eventually become friends. Tommy learns that he was wrong about scavengers.
Meanwhile Wilbur was always told he was someone special. From his birth it was prophesied that he would be the one to make peace with the dragons. It was said that he had been given a special gift that he would allow him to save his village.
Looking at him you wouldn’t be able to tell, he wasn’t smart like his father or strong like his brother Techno. He was just…himself. Besides even if he COULD save the village, he’d never be able to. His family was worried about him, especially after what happened to the last person who was supposed to make peace with the dragons.
Anyways one little walk outside the village couldn’t hurt, right??
That’s how Wilbur finds himself meeting Tommy, fully expecting to die. What he wasn’t expecting was to be able to communicate with the dragon.
After a couple of months of Wilbur sneaking out Phil and Techno are both very worried and look for Wilbur only to find Tommy doing something (like toying/fake stalking Wilbur) and they overreact.
Drawing I did in August of 22 mixed in—but need something to show civilian outfit. The one that's just clothes show the super outfit. (The one that has two toned hair is when he's a few years older than what I deacribed of him tho...) I forgot to tell you that this guy can change his hair/eye color at will.

Your drawings are so good!!!!! Thank you for sharing them! :D
(Question, are they able to change/hide their hybrid features at all?? I imagine it would be easy to see a hero/villain with the same features and draw a connection to them)
hi! i can chip in some input with the vrchat stuff
you dont need a vr headset to test the avatars since the game has a desktop mode (+ you could also test the avatar in unity using the "gesture manager" package that comes with the VRC creator companion). I'd recommend having a nosy at Sippbox or Kokou's tutorials, they're miles more straightforward than most videos on avatar creation
the avatar ripping is unfortunately an inevitability, since the vrca file is cached temporarily on the user's pc. afaik most instances of avatar ripping are usually with the more popular anime styled ones compared to fandom oriented ones, so chances are you'll still be fine
hope this clears some stuff up ! would def be interested in seeing them as full on avatars, love ur modelling style !
Heya! I was honestly expecting people would lean more towards the low-poly mouthwashing avatars, rather than a fan-made one. It was a nice surprise to see otherwise! I'm also relieved to know I don’t need a VR headset to test the avatars, and I’ll definitely check out those tutorials you recommended, thanks so much!
As for avatar ripping, I kind of anticipated it was inevitable, like posting art online and hoping no one traces it or feeds it to AI. But I recently found a few Unity scripts that can scramble the data, so if someone does rip the avatar, they’ll get a scrambled version. That’s definitely eased my mind a bit.
Thanks again for all the helpful insight. I really appreciate it! ^^
