Guess what day it is ...!
On this day… 3rd of September
Nothing quite compares to the feeling of uploading your master’s dissertation to the submission portal of your university.
With this, my master’s degree in the UK ends. A year abroad ends. A year of speaking a foreign language day and night, in personal interaction and professional academia. A year of living in London - and what a city it is, ancient and maddening and incomparably breathtaking.
Now, I am free from everything for the littlest while. Until the PhD begins. We all need a last break to recharge and focus before we continue our ascent.
I can’t wait to see what else lies ahead in this world for me.
Star-Struck and Ham-Stringed
Don’t gimmie none of that Giant Monsters From Beyond the Stars jive-talk. Don’t whisper your secrets to me about your civilizations from other worlds and the horrors they bring with them. I just came here for some coffee and some dancing. I don’t want hear about the beasts from the darkness of pure space who are coming.
But they are coming. They are coming for us.
Papa was a rolling collection of multi-purpose cells which were able to hyper-adapt to any environment they were placed in; wherever he put his cilia was his home.
They were the cool ones, the thoughtful ones, the exciting ones. They had no eyes and a hundred eyes and they had sensory inputs our type of people don’t have no words for. They could smell the ultraviolet radiation of the night.
We’re talking about boogie-woogie nightmares from planet X, a lonely rock floating out in space, too far out to catch the light of any galaxy. As dark as the bottom of the sea, and then some.
Sure, they’re out there. And sure, they’re waiting for us. And sure, they’re hungry. But here’s the thing, you take away a need for a reflection, and you’ll see, they’re not so different from us. They’re just larger, and stranger, and eons older.
But we’re all looking for the same thing. A groovy place to get down.
We’ll find it, too. All of us, together. One of these days.
OMG UTS ALREADY LOOP DAY!?!?!?!?!?!
