The day Carmen’s former executive chef butchers his plate and tells him to take out the blood orange and sub fennel, it’s the day Mikey dies (or the scenes are just blocked to show they’re linked). Then Carmen gives the dish to Sydney with blood orange ANYWAY in defiance, and that’s when his story begins again.

It starts now because how the fuck did I not realize that the season opens with Carmen in front of his three windows that are in the exact same fucking configuration as the windows in Sydney’s new apartment only his blinds are open and hers are all shut!!!!
I actually should have known this entire season would be shit between Carmen and Syd based on the fact that Carmen is sitting on the table and Syd is standing. Wrote an entire post about how Carmen and Claire were never on equal footing because one was always higher than the other or in front or behind. And the FIRST shot of Syd and Carmen they’re no longer on equal footing.

I know the timeline is intentionally unclear because of what grief does to memory, but did we ever suss out whether Mikey dies BEFORE Carmen defies EMP chef (David?) and makes Sydney’s favorite dish — and subsequently fucks off forever
