A Response to Podcast 01

Today concludes my first week back to school for the Fall 2017 semester. The long summer break has left me feeling extremely energized and aware of my goals as a designer. This week, I listened to a podcast called Design Matters with Debbie Millman: Timothy Goodman + Jessica Walsh. In this podcast, Debbie Millman spoke with Timothy and Jessica about their collaborative love experiment, Forty Days of Dating. I had read most of their blog last year, but it was so interesting to hear what the designers had to say, personally, about their experience on the inside of this viral experiment. One thought that really struck me in the podcast was at the end when Timothy says, “the idea of being vulnerable as a human and as a designer is the biggest thing we both have gotten from this.” I definitely agree that vulnerability plays a big part in love and in design because being open allows for good communication and the discovery of shared goals and ideas. This summer, I took a leap of courage; I jumped into a new relationship and took a trip of a lifetime to Australia. I was able to learn so much about myself and my dreams as a human and designer through taking these huge risks in my life.  As I begin the new semester, fresh out of a life-changing summer, I feel very vulnerable, yet, ready to conquer what lies ahead.

40 days of dating

I just rediscovered this blog and binge-read it yesterday. I had first read it years ago when it first came out but I don’t recall how I had found it. Even this time around, I can’t recall how I stumbled upon it.

Anyway, it made me want someone, at least, just to make out with.
