Rook had offered his help to Zazie in case their siblings had been harmed, but with how leery that the Swarm had been about the idea of him meeting the other people that they had collected as family, He had been somewhat surprised to see Zazie take him up on it.
The young woman that had been left in his care was... unusual to say the least. Her body had been heavily modified and showed far too many signs of old wounds for him to NOT feel concerned.
Especially considering how young she obviously was.
This was a child that Zazie had brought to him. How old was she? Rayen's age? Younger? Far too young for whatever it was that had happened to put her body into that state!
Despite the abuse her body had been put through, the young woman was physically quite healthy. Rook told Zazie as much when they came to check on her. It was her modifications themselves that were the issue.
Before coming to this planet, Rook had encountered problems like this quite often among individuals with cybernetics hooked directly into their brains... especially among those with eCHO eye enhancements who were careless enough to ignore the proper protocol when using their cybernetics to hack. (Or who downloaded suspicious links or data into heads without thought for the consequences.)
Essentially, there was too much extra data running through the young woman's head, overwhelming her and making it extremely difficult for her brain to sort out what belonged and what did not. It was something that was simple to sort out if you had the right tools...
...Or if the 'right tool' didn't have something of an attitude problem.
Rook disliked bringing out 41-D, but using an AI to sort out the extra data to something that a human brain could fully process was, unfortunately, the best and safest course of actions.
Hopefully the fail-safe programs that his granddaughter had put into place would be as effective as she seemed to believe they would be.
...
The little medical robot eyed him in a manner that could be read as wary, despite the un-changing nature of its facial features. It had been a long time since Rook had fully activated the bot rather then just using its digistruct capabilities to produce simple medications.
Their last encounter had been... tumultuous at best, and 41-D remembered that.
"I know that Rayen has been working with you." He spoke quietly to the bot. "She has nothing but good things to say about your progress, so I'm going to trust her, and trust you too... are you ready to come back to work with me, Aid?"
:: Of course, Doctor. :: The synthetic voice was calm and pleasant. Meant to be relaxing for anxious patients. It stood at clear odds with everything Rook knew of the little Bot's personality. :: I exist to help, after all. ::
Rook let out a deep sigh.
"I don't want to hear from this young woman or any other patients that you were referring to her or any other organic beings as 'inferior sacks of meat', or any other insults that might be cooking in your head... and you'll be following MY methods for dealing with patients. Not anyone else's. Do you understand?"
:: Yes Doctor. :: The response was... less enthusiastic, but Rook would accept it. For now.
"Patient is in a comatose state caused by a mental overload from the use of cybernetics. I need you to to connect to them to help sort the data into something that a human brain can safely process."
:: My scans show that the technology imbedded into this human's body is not fully compatible with my own. What you are asking is possible to achieve safely, but it will take far longer then normal. Would you still like me to proceed? ::
"Yes, but keep me informed on any irregularities."
:: Understood. ::
