The old scambaters at 419 Eater!
Why 419 Scams Continue to Dupe Us
We did not evolve to live in a world of strangers. Our brains are wired to live in relatively small tribes in which everyone’s character and past behavior is well-known.
Two big problems here:
My email filter is broken - because how did this get in my inbox instead of going straight to junk mail?
The grifters are reverting to the old methods of the 1900s.
Here, I'll paste the text of the email that found me well:
MY DEAREST BELOVED
Greeting to you my beloved, I am Mrs. Rosaura Beriain, i'm from Spanish, Citizen who lives in united kingdom i married to Mr. David Beriain, spanish journalist producer, who died in burkina faso, He attacked by armed men in the year April 2021, During his life time he deposited the sum of (9.5 Million Euro) in the bank, I am sending you this message with heavy tears in my eyes and great sorrow in my heart, and also pray that it will reach you in good health because I am not in good health,
Am sorry to approach you through this media, I sleep everyday and night without knowing if I may see the next day. am suffering from long time cancer, before my late husband died, i believe you will be honest to fulfill my final wish before I die.
I will be going for operation surgery soon. Now I want you to stand as my next of kin to claim the funds for charity purpose, With all due respect if this money remains unclaimed after my death, the bank executives or the government will take the money as unclaimed fund, I need a very honest person who can claim this money and use it for Charity works, for orphanages, widows and also for the churches for work of god, I need your urgent answer to know if you will be able to execute this project, and I will give you more information on how the fund will be transferred to your bank account,
Thanks
Mrs. Rosaura Beriain.
