Wait, if Lara-Su came back in time to stop Remington from killing Knuckles, does that mean she's already been conceived? Or does the Remington in her timeline just constantly keep trying to kill Knuckles until he gets it right?

Yeah, I’m not really sure how that’s supposed to work! When Lara-Su said that Remington killed Knuckles, I assumed she meant, you know… after she’d been conceived? Because otherwise how the fuck does she exist?

Perhaps this Lara-Su knows she’s from a different timeline somehow (because she is! this isn’t the M25YL timeline Lara-Su), and she’s just trying to fix the prime timeline, which might have been altered by Chaos Knuckles unintentionally? Or maybe the timeline has diverged since she got here, and Remington’s shooting Knuckles early?

I dunno. It’s all contrived, even moreso than most time travel stories. Penders wanted to bring in Lara-Su to hype up her return later on in M25YL, so he needed a reason for her to travel to the past, and he loves his dramatic cliffhangers, even if they make no sense
