It was a roller boogie banger and a studio 54 Kenny Carpenter jam as well. This was also never a “Hit” song per se but always gets people moving. It was and is however an undisputed NYC classic. Cameo Shes Strange: this 1984 number one r n b smash is a bonified classic. What you may not know is the LP Shes Strange was the bands 10th album. Originally hailing from NYC they were originally called The Nee York City Players but changed there name so as not to be confused with the Ohio Players. Signed to Casablanca records Chocolate City imprint the then 14 piece band@played a harder funk and scored hits like The oft sampled Rigor Mortis, I just Wanna Be and Find A Way. By the time this cane out the band had become a 3 piece and was more or less a vehicle for Larry Blackmon’s song writing and production and boy did he write hits! Besides this epic jam the band scored big with Attack Me With Your Love, Single Life, Candy and The corny but classic Word Up! They dont always get the props they deserveI think due to Blackmons crazy get ups codpiece inclused. This song is a beast as is there lengthy catalog. Check the tune On The One for confirmation.
