Just a thought..
Imagine in 10 years time, you see new fans joining the fandom. You see them all new to the fandom, educating them on what has happened to MNL48 in the past 10 years. They don’t know about former members like Trixie and Eunice, they were a thing in a past for these new fans. But for you.. the first generation mean so much to you. Even former members like Trixie and Eunice. You’ve seen them as aspirants, and you’ve followed them since. Then you realise.. MNL48 means so much to you, even though it didn’t seem like it back then since you were concerned about their management. You look back on their performance at Manila Idol Matsuri, something that was so amazing back in the day, but doesn’t mean a lot to the newer fans.
MNL48 has that thing in them - something we can’t explain, and whilst it does not mean a lot to us now, it will do in the future. Once we realise that despite everything else that has happened to us, we’ve kept on supporting MNL48. It’s something (well, for me at least) that none of the other groups that I stan have in them.
This is why MNL48 means so much to me.
I love you, MNL48.
Salamat po :)
I love how I've been into AKB48 and the other 48 Groups since 2011 but have no idea what this SSK thing is and barely know any of the members names except the ones that get the most shine or have left the group.
The Beginning
Recently, I posted about 48 Family groups. But, I haven’t posted anything that explain how I start to “plunge” into “idoling world”, until this post. So, I think I want share about the beginning of it.
I forget precisely but all I can remember it’s started in about in the end of 2012. It’s all started with an Facebook group invitation from my friend. He established a JKT48 university fan base and started to gather fan from same university via Facebook group. After got that invitation, I just confirmed it and joined anyway. I did that only to appreciate my friend effort. At that time, I give no real interest to any idol groups, especially 48 family groups. Because of that, I only checked the group occasionally.
But it’s all changed when I checked the group and open the albums one by one. An album that contains photos from Aki Takajo attracted my attention. That time I just think like,”Wow, she is so pretty. She got my attention”. Then, after that awesome impression, I started to search about Aki Takajo on the internet. That search led me to know more about AKB48 and 48 Family groups.
After that I self proclaimed myself to became AKB48 fan. I did not really know about the concept of “oshi”, “oshimen”, etc in that time. But I guess I was Akicha-oshi that time. My attention and curiosity finally led me to watch AKBingo! show. Well, I can say that this show helps me a lot to know more about AKB48 and 48 Family in general. At the same time, I also started to know more about their sister group in Indonesia, JKT48. Because of that reason, I checked to the my friend Facebook group more often.
Also in that time, I started to follow some JKT48 members social media accounts. But, I still haven’t found any member or any reason to support them sincerely and seriously. Maybe, if it’s not because of Akicha transferred to JKT48, I won’t start to know more about JKT48. In that time, I also started to like members like Shania from 1st generation and Yona from 2nd generation. But, I just follow them via social media network and television (shows).
While I still to know more about 48 family groups from their tv shows, internet articles, etc., my interest to Akicha became disrespect to her after I know about the fact that she’s not total in JKT48 and still hope to be back to AKB48. Well, she’s different from Haruka Nakagawa (Harugon) who also transferred to JKT48. Harugon is so total in JKT48. She even refused to back to AKB48 and decided to not to participate again in the AKB48 sousenkyo. Because of that, Harugon gets many attension from Indonesian JKT48 fans. And, the top of it, Akicha finally got back to AKB48.
Unconsciously, in the same time, my curiosity towards JKT48 became bigger that time. But, I find in hard to choose a member who can I support seriously and sincerely. Most of them, I only “like them”. Just like that. Even, look them through them television show or social media networks is more than enough for me. But, it’s all changed when 3rd generation announced. I view that as a chance to follow a generation (soon became a Team) from the start.
Then, I know about a trainee member who has very long name, Maria Genoveva Natalia Desy Purnamasari Gunawan. We can just simply call her Desy. After know her and meet her first time in the Direct Selling event, I decided to support her. And I also decided to start “idoling” in serious mode. To support JKT48, especially Desy.
Well, that’s my beginning story about how I start “idoling”. Maybe it sounds absurd or stupid, but support my idol, Desy, look her happy and meet her give some kind of mood booster and make me more enthusiastic to face my life.

[MV] SKE48 – 9th Single Aishiteraburu!
