Crazy Mirror Selfie The Critique: Cascading doorways caught in mirrors make the perfect frame within a frame for a rare selfie. The not so perfect glass creates warped reflections that add interest as the outlines shapes recede into the distance. They form a repeating design that is hard to resist. Textures and patterns invite my eye to stay and explore. Light splashes, revealing more details and adding the freshness of life. It’s kind of a crazy house but spatial relationships are there to find – the human figure gives perspective. Transitions The Critique: Silhouettes passing through, framed by panes of glass, form a strong focal point. They are in an orderly world contained within the glass bridge. Outside a building lurks – it’s windows patterned – adding interest. The architectural façade on the left opposes nature lining the right of the frame. The shot is rich in tones from white to black. Subtle shades of gray add more geometry in a non-distracting way. Sharp focus throughout. Gorgeous light makes it all possible – giving us an interesting look at transition. What I had learned: Look for the right perspective. Transitions – travels from one spot to another are interesting captures. And interesting to do. Crazy Lines The Critique: Mix ICM (intentional camera movement) and double exposure and it doubles the fun. The street lines are accentuated into lines that beg my eye to follow. Buildings rise into a dramatic sky. Spatial relationships remain clear. Powerlines plunge into the scene and mimic other triangular shapes. Nice mix of textures to compliment the strong color palette. What I had learned: Iconic corners take some thought.
