4 x 8 Choreography - Grace Walsh
Today in Vicky's lesson we had to come across the floor with a combination of moves that show's us off for four counts of eight. I was quite in luck and had previously been away to work on this as I knew Vicky was going to ask us again. I also thought that I needed this prepared as this will be ideal to have for when we go to auditions and I can already be prepared for what they have asked without panicking. Once I had come across the room, I do think that it could have gone a lot better and that I could have had more technique throughout also. After everyone had done their four counts of eight Lindsey asked us all why we thought it was important to have the choreography already prepared. We all came to say that so we don't panic and look stupid when we don't have anything properly prepared. Lindsey explained to us that it was because it will make us look a lot more confident and feel prepared when doing it. She also explained that by being prepared this will make us perform the choreography stronger and that we can also add more of a performance also to make it look interesting. Lindsey also explained to us to make sure that we are doing something different to what everyone else has come across doing and if we see someone doing the same thing as what you have prepared try and make sure you think of something else so that you stand out and that you don't automatically get judged to the other people around you. Lindsey said that we need to make sure that when we are doing improvisation we need to make sure that we are coming across doing something that we are good at and trying to do something that we are struggling with can be a bad move. Lindsey explained that not one person actually came into the centre and done a piece of choreography and this could have looked a lot stronger than doing some tricks that we can't do. I need to make sure that I go away and work on this for any auditions that I have coming up so that I can be confident when performing it and so I can know exactly what I am doing when coming across the floor.
