Wushiland Boba, 140 W Valley Ave. #104, San Gabriel, CA 91776, Score: 37/50
LA’s first Wushiland location is in San Gabriel Square a few steps from Boba 8090 (and near Bake Code, which also sells boba drinks). It’s originally from Taiwan where it is known as 50 Ian. Order at the front and they’ll give you a buzzer which will go off when your order is ready.
Score: 37/50
Food: 3/5 – When they first opened, they didn’t have food but now they have a few kinds of waffles for $11-$12 (expensive). I didn’t try the waffles.
Coffee: 4/5 – They don’t have coffee. There are two sizes of drinks (brewed tea, tea latte, milk tea, juices). You can specify sweetness, ice and add ins. The roasted oolong milk tea was very creamy (non-dairy creamer?) but the tea flavor was complex and interesting and the grass jelly was soft and tasty. Thirty percent sweetness is still sweet, so their drinks must be pretty sweet if you order at a higher level of sweetness. Teas are brewed in advance and then customized to order. They’re very generous with their grass jelly.
Wi-fi: 5/5 – Free, unlimited, ask for the password. Good speed and stability.
Ambiance: 4/5 – They completely remodeled the space. There’s plenty of seating. The style is modern with white tiles, faux wood and touches of yellow. It’s nice. It’s clean. They have so many lights on that it’s very bright inside.
Noise: 1/5 – The music is super loud but that’s how most boba places are, it is so loud!
Outlets: 3/5 – Multiple outlets around
Parking: 4/5 – Lots of free parking in the shopping center with parking in the lot and underground, 3 hour limit
Comfort: 5/5 – Some seating is padded, some isn’t. There are some large tables, some small tables. It’s comfortable.
Bathroom: 5/5 – Two
Art: 3/5 – Just pictures of their drinks and waffles
Tips: They don’t have a frequent buyer/loyalty program. This is a busy shopping center filled with Chinese restaurants and anchored by 99 Ranch.
