Updating my uniforms.
At the age of 29...
I decided to join the fake paratroops. My twin brother had been urging me for a couple of years to get into Historical Reenactments, and I have now reached out to a unit to inquire about joining. I am in contact with George Company, 505 PIR, 82nd Airborne Division, reenacted. I went to my first event on Saturday, and despite a major sunburn, I really enjoyed getting to know the people at the event. So far, I own: 2 US M37 Wool Shirts 1 US M37 Wool Trousers 1 Wool EM Service Coat 1 M43 Field Jacket 1 Garrison Cap (w/ Blue Piping, Repo) 1942 Suspender (Repo) Mohair EM Necktie (Repo) Corcoran Jump Boots (Repo) Collar Brass (Repo) Various Unit Insignia (Repo) Various Unit Awards (Repo)
Most of this was gifted to me, so I am quite blessed to have not spent a small fortune so far. My next purchase will be a set of M42 Jacket & Trousers, which will be reproduction and reinforced by someone from G Co. After that, I hope to purchase all of my combat web gear and a helmet. Someday, I will get my very own M1 Garand. I am registered for more events this summer, and am excited to see where this takes me. -Dan A. Nelson
