I DID SO GOOD!!!!! I’m still at the 5k, but I finished in 33:30! My average mile pace was 10:39, which considering the fact that I’ve been running over 11, almost 12 minutes per mile, and the enormous, impossible hill I had to walk up, is amazing! I’m so happy right now!! I finished just under ¾ of the racers, 173/236. Not an amazing time, but I was third in my age group, so that’s not all bad. I got a medal and everything. Of course, there were only four in the 20-24 bracket, so… I put on my Spotify Playlist bit I ran faster than the pace set, which, while not bad, didn’t help me either. I DID turn on chases, and kept expecting a zombie chase to happen, but I went the whole run without one. When I put my race bib on, I tried to put the pins through this shirt and it was nearly impossible. Six to Start chose a really good quality workout shirt. I wound up in the back of the race with the slow runners who slow to a walk, but after the walkers. I did a 5k last year in October, my very first, and I finished in 29 minutes, so today's run was four minutes slower, but considering the hill and the few times I had to slow to a walk, had my route been the same as last year, which was my typical route anyway, I'm sure I would have made better time. I'll have to run today's mission again sometime, I wasn't able to zone out and focus on the mission like usual since I was so focused on the race. My mission said it would finish in 33 minutes and as I came around the last corner to the finish line, a clip played and I was so confused, because I didn't think I'd run that fast, since my typical runs lately have taken much longer. I was so surprised looking at my time, I could hardly believe it. The last clip finished seconds after I crossed the finish line. I'm also glad that I came down to Manistee yesterday rather than waiting, because even though I was sure the race was on Monday, the 4th, it was actually today, so if I had stuck to my original plan I would have missed it.
