Today’s run was decent. I managed a decent amount of running during it, but I need to cram as much training as I can into the next two weeks to prepare for the upcoming 5k. Vi was more helpful this time, she recognized my voice command for “step to the beat” twice and that feature is just as helpful as I hoped it would be. It plays a tune that you can match your steps to really easily. I did equal amounts walking and then sped up to running with Vi’s help. Now that I’ve done both training missions I’m going to stick to the 5k trainer until race time, to get as much help as I can. I started on week three and I think I’ll repeat it once more and move on to what I can. I’m doing better than I had thought I would but I’m in no means running shape. This is my own fault and I’m going to fix it. I’m hoping to get a job at my old summer camp this year, and if I do for the months of June, July and August I’ll be out of commission for running except for weekends due to the nature of this. I’m really hoping to get it! That would be so fun. It’s outdoors and a fun job that I’d enjoy, which is what I want. It’d get me in shape far faster than running each day. I’ll let you guys know, I should be getting an answer here shortly. (*crosses fingers and prays*)
This mission was hilarious. I loved this so much! The dialogue was amazing, Sandy is so sarcastic and the team is awesome! I don’t really have much to add besides that.
Today’s run went pretty well. I ran consistently for one mile, then had to slow to a walk for a mile. My first mile time was 11:44 so that’s pretty close to where I want to be. I picked up a little bit after the announcement for the two mile mark and ran for about 7/10 of a mile, and my third mile time was 13:52. Overall I did 3.42 miles in 48:55, with an average speed of 14:18. I need to work on a consistent speed more so I think I’ll bring up the Zombies 5K trainer and finish the last four season three missions after the 5k on the 15th. I got the email this morning saying that the first training mission for said 5k was available but it wasn’t in my app so I’ll probably do it Thursday on my run. Vi worked better today though. The music today was a selection of my favorite Fall Out Boy tracks, which made my run easy to do. It’s still a little difficult to run at a steady pace without my usual spotify tracks, but hopefully LifeBEAM fixes that soon. The voice prompts were less today and prioritized the Zombies, Run! clips the few times the two clashed which I was happy about. There’s still some kinks to work out, though. One of the features I was looking forward to, the run to the beat music, prompted this morning. All I have to do is tap the prompt button and say “Step to the beat” and the music is supposed to play, which would make the spotify tracks I listen to redundant. But the headset wouldn’t pick up my voice when I said it so I haven’t tried that feature yet, which is disappointing. Maybe on Thursday. I’m trying to get out every other day to get back into it.
Today’s run was awesome. it was interesting enough, throughout the mission. But then the last clip we dropped a blue whale exhibit on a swarm of zombies and smashed them like potatoes. The whole dialogue was hilarious and I was laughing so hard! I’m definitely going to have to upload that scene here. At this point my queue for clips I need to upload is so long I really just need to sit down and do it.
I’m sorry for disappearing on you all. I keep saying I’ll get back into it, and then I make excuses and don’t do it. I’m doing a terrible job keeping my promises right now, but I will get back into this. There’s no better motivator than the scary numbers the scale is telling me lately. My Vi headset should be here next week or the following, so that’ll make it a lot easier, because part of the way the AI works is reminding you to exercise. I’m really looking forward to that. I went out for a walk this morning, rather than a run. I’ll need to get back into the 5k trainer once the actual thaw hits, now that I’ve got a set route on road equal to the 5k distance on the trails. I’m going to try and find a partner for the upcoming virtual race so I do better than I did last spring, walking alone, and look into 5ks in nearby towns once it gets closer to the time so I can try and make better plans.
Michigan is having some really strange seasons lately. Last year had one of the hottest summers on record (which I hated, because part of the reason I actually live in michigan is because we DON’T get summers with 100+ degree heat indexes every year, which he had some days last year. And now we have nearly a whole week of mid to high 40s today until friday, so plenty of time for me to get out and go do some missions. Going out this morning, the road was nearly entirely ice, not the worst I’ve seen this year, but close. In some places if I had took a Zamboni to the road I could have ice skated my mission instead of walked it. Literally, I’m not exaggerating here. Luckily the shoes I wear for running the trails also work well enough on ice, so I was good. With the rain coming up and the temperatures above freezing all week, a good amount of our snow and ice should melt, thank the lord.
On a side note, I ran Pokemon Go while out on my walk today. I hatched all four of my eggs and finished a cycle of the buddy walking for candies and nearly completed a second.
Todays run started out with me, jody and owen off to a hospital for supplies. A “Nice, easy run” for all of 30 seconds. Anyone surprised? A group of new canton people “Captured” Moonchild. I didn’t believe that for a second. Especially once one of the captors said she drank moonchilds ginseng tea. So we get through the zoms and into new canton, and control tones go out over the whole town, controlling everyone. Again, anyone surprised? So me and Mrs. Sosa make a run for it in the castle dungeons, and grab some water. At this point, it’s easy to realize that moonchild drugged the water supply. so we make our way down and Mrs. Sosa tries to gain control of me again, once I drink the tainted water. Again, so obvious, how has sam not realized yet? After getting away and getting ahold of nadia (Who’s quite awesome now, have I mentioned that?) I make my way to the water center, and low and behold there are barrels of the mind control serum there. dun dun dun. I don’t know if I’m really good at this, if it was meant to be obvious, or if it was just really predictable. My money’s on the second. I finallly make it out and theres an army waiting outside. Like, a huge militia. Sam says it’s obvious who they’re waiting for but at this I was lost, everyone in new canton is mind controlled. Who would the need that much gunpower for? Even Abel township can’t be that big of a threat, right? that’s the only thing I didn’t get. But I supposed it’ll make sense soon enough.
Today’s run went alright. Vi’s companion app came out on friday as expected, so I went out this morning to run outside since the ice rink is too small to track distance via gps. I burned too fast in the beginning and ended up walking the rest of the way, but I finished in 53:19 and powerwalked a lot of the way. Vi is awesome, this headset is really going to be an asset in my running, I can tell. The voice is so smooth it really sounds like a person is right there coaching you. It’s so smart! Well worth the wait and the price. The only thing that bugs me is that while Zombies, Run! overrides the music from the headset, the voiceover of Vi doesn’t wait, and interferes with the ZR clips. I sent them a message about that to hopefully fix that but I don’t have my hopes up, given how this headset works I suppose it’s to be expected. But, at the same time, the first 3 runs have a lot more dialogue while Vi syncs with my runs so that may cut down after. I also started up a 100 day push ups and 100 day sit ups app after to accompany my training, but I think, given how the apps are designed, I’ll start them before my runs as a warm up from now on.
We were joined by Simon today. Maxine is still really mad at him, and almost left him on the tracks to be hit by a train! As bad as Simon is I don’t think he deserves that. They had some heated dialogue in the tunnel before we escaped. We found some interesting stuff in Moonchild’s house. She apparently tried to fix her depressed father with mind control. She sounded really young and it sounded like an honest mistake this time. But I think this is probably when she went mad. Not much of interest happened besides that.
