I think some of my least favorite people are those who can read political theory and feel absolutely nothing, regardless of what side of the political spectrum the texts come from. Imagine reading Marx and not feeling as if all of the tributaries of economy and culture are culminating before you. Imagine reading Lenin or Luxembourg or Ho Chi Minh or Mao or whoever and not being roused to action while simultaneously sorrowful at their failures. Imagine reading Adorno or Debord and not feeling depressed after seeing more clearly your alienation. Imagine reading Hitler or Mishima and not being terrified at the death cult of the archaic that is fascism. Neoliberalism is such a sociopathic and disassociated ideology that it’s fully convinced itself of its complete permanence. All other ideologies, no matter how pertinent and active, become little more than academic fodder. Just textbooks written by dead old men to check off a list for class, pretending to know them. Because, of course, they’ll never affect you

An interesting Bellarke moment:
Clarke, Murphy, and Bellamy handcuffed during the Red Sun.
Clarke: People die when you’re in charge
Looks over to Bellamy
Clarke: isn’t that what you said?
I was surprised by this call back to this season 3 moment, an emotional confrontation between the two. Obviously the red sun was sparking their emotions and driving their actions but I found it interesting that she brought up this line. And the way she said it!! Almost taunting him. While it is clear that this scene is driven by her guilt of her past actions, bringing up something that has since been water under the bridge is interesting. Almost as if she’s intentionally trying to stir the pot with him in that moment.
