what's your ranking of TARDIS interiors?

I had to think about this 🤔 And I threw in some minor console rooms for fun.

-Going from least favourite to favourite, I'd probably start with Thirteen's interior. Which I hate to say because it has some great-looking elements like the crystal console and columns, but the rest of the place feels so busy and over-designed that I have to take a moment to understand what I'm looking at. It just doesn't cohere well for me, y'know.

-After that might be the white console room from most of Classic Who. It's iconic and I love the alien vibe it brings, but it feels so small and empty compared to the other console rooms. Put a couch in there or something.

Rapid fire opinions!

-Nine & Ten's room. The coral design is such a cool way to convey that the ship is alive.

-Fugitive Doctor's room. It's got the classic aesthetic but a bit more crunchy.

-War Doctor's room. Similar as the last one, but I love how the white walls and the coral pillars look together 💜

-Fourteen & Fifteen's room. It's like classic but BIG!!

-Shalka Doctor's room. It's big but also steampunky. I love the spiralling stairs that go up and up.

-Twelve's room. Some of these rankings are no doubt affected by the nostalgia for the era they come from. But I do love the different levels and the big spinning ceiling :)

-One's room. I know that this is basically just the standard Classic Console Room, but it's amazing how much some extra space, some furniture, and a wall of computers for a bit of variety can add to the vibes.

-Eleven's room. Absolutely nails the childish whimsy of the era, filled with interesting things to look at, and I adore its verticality. Just one of the best utilised sets in the whole show.

-Eight's room. Obviously this is my favourite. It's the most gothic and the most comfortable 😌 Makes me want to live in it.

Can I ask if you have any Demon Dr Whomst AU lore for Iris Wildthyme?

oh, Iris is just Iris. I’m pretty sure she swung in from the regular Who timeline (or as regular as DW canon ever gets where she’s concerned, anyway). she claims she’s a demon, she even has a proper demonsona, but she also has a red bus and a talking stuffed panda for a best friend (apparently he hails from the fifth circle of hell) and nobody is ever quite sure what she’s doing there

Classic Who Secret Santa

Merry Christmas to @6-and-7!  One of your requests was “Two, Jamie and Zoe investigating strange happenings in an idyllic winter village” and this is my fill for @classicwhosecretsanta!  The ending will be posted in the next few hours and/or days!  Apologies for not quite finishing on time:

Zoe had never seen snow before.  

She’d arrived after all the nonsense with both the yetis and the Ice Warriors, and lived her life in a space station which of course never experienced natural precipitation.  Jamie felt inclined to laugh at her about this, but as he caught the look of amazement in her eyes, he couldn’t bring himself to do so.  He and the Doctor momentarily grinned privately at each other before they went back to beaming and watching fact-touting, logical Zoe and her dawning wonder at the glimmering wintry world around her.

“Careful, it’s cold,” Jamie cautioned as she reached down to touch it.

“Well, of course it’s cold; particles only change their state of matter from liquid to solid under certain temperature conditions, and in the case of dihydrogen monoxide –”

“Ach, I know that, Zoe, I’m no’ that ignorant . . .”

“Well, you assumed I was ignorant to the fact that snow is cold!”

“Now, you two,” the Doctor began.  “We mustn’t quarrel.  Come, I think I see a village over that way.  Let’s go and meet the locals, shall we?”

But neither of them was listening.

“Because sometimes,” Jamie was retorting, “ye’ll know facts, but ye’ll nae apply them when they’re important.  Like why wear that wee little skirt when ye know it’ll be cold enough for snow?”

“Well, you’re still wearing your kilt as well!”

“Aye, but –”

He never finished the thought, as the Doctor had just pelted him in the side of the head with a snowball.  He looked over at the Doctor momentarily, and the back at Zoe, smiling.

“But you know the best thing about snow, Zoe?”

She was nodding as she scooped up snow and formed a snowball in her little hands.  “Yes, Jamie,” she replied, hurling it at the Doctor, where it splattered over his jacket, “I believe I do.”

A merry war ensued, as all three of them scooped up the snow with abandon and laughingly tried to strike each other with as many snowballs as possible while avoiding hits from the others.  It did not end until they were all thoroughly soaked, and Zoe had fallen on her bare knees in the icy whiteness and begun to shiver.

“Oh dear, we’d best go into town and find you something warm to drink, my dear,” The Doctor said, pulling Zoe to her feet as Jamie chivalrously stripped off his coat and wrapped it around her shoulders.

Zoe could do nothing but sneeze and nod appreciatively and they put their arms around her and carefully tromped down the snow-covered hill toward brightly-lit buildings in the distance.

The hill was covered not only with lovely glistening snow but with handsome, fragrant, white-sprinkled spruce trees with lovely bright-colored birds building their nests.  Further down the hill, they found a troop of bundled up children racing upward carrying a sled, where further down, their compatriots were building a snowman.  The children barely looked at them as they passed, and when they did, they only muttered “Merry Christmas!” and continued with what they were doing.

“Awfully friendly place,” the Doctor commented as approached the cobblestone streets and the first cottages of the town.

As if to instantly reinforce this observation, three people came racing out of the town carrying several very large, very fluffy coats, and steaming mugs of tea.

“Merry Christmas!” they all chanted in unison.  They were two young women and a young man, all dressed great-coats with festive scarves.

“You’re soaked to the bone, you poor dears!” exclaimed one of the women, the shorter one, with blonde hair.  They all held up the furry coats to Jamie and Zoe; the Doctor was already wearing his own huge fur coat.

Once satisfied that Jamie and Zoe were sufficiently bundled, the young man offered them the tea.  “So you can be warm inside and out!”

“And come inside and sit by the fire!” added the second woman, making to lead the way.

Jamie, Zoe and the Doctor all looked a little bemused.

“Well, thank you,” the Doctor said at last, as they began to follow her through the holly-decked, lamp-lighted, snowy cobblestone streets, “that’s very civil of you.”

“Oh, the master commands us to welcome all strangers!  It’s his policy!  He loves to meet new people!” the first girl said.

“The Master?” the Doctor asked warily.

“Oh yes!” the young man informed him. “The big boss around here. A very kindly and generous man – though a bit absentminded at times,” he laughed.

“He’s a wizard,” the first girl added, “a good wizard.  He brought great joy and prosperity to our little village!”

“Oh, aye?” asked Jamie.  “How’d he do that?  And why d’ye reckon he’s a wizard?”

“Our village used to be overrun by conquerors,” the young man replied.  “We had to obey their laws, give them all our resources – we were starved, we could never leave home, we could never celebrate our own culture.  But they day after this man came to town, they were all gone.  He told us we were free.  And he was about to leave – but we asked him to stay a little longer.  He said he’d stay a month or two on one condition – that we celebrated his favorite holiday – what earthlings call ‘Christmas’ – with all our hearts!”

“Fascinating,” said Zoe.  “What sort of person knows and cares about Christmas, like an earthman, but has the sort of power or intelligence to get rid of alien invaders so quickly?”

“Well, we know exactly what sort of person does that,” Jamie said with a grin, knocking the Doctor on the back. “But he’s been with us this whole time!”

“Time!” exclaimed Zoe.  “It wouldn’t be impossible, since he travels in time, that he was with us and he was here!”

“Eh?”

“I think we’d better meet this master of yours,” the Doctor told the lady leading them.

“Certainly,” she replied.  “The master always wants to meet newcomers in town.  You three can relax here in this inn by the fire, and I’ll go and tell him you’ve arrived!”

“Thank you, my dear,” said the Doctor.

“Say,” said Jamie, “what happened to that other lassie who was with us?”

So I went to a marvelous party the other night, thrown by the campus LGBT+ association. I had a gay old time, it was aces. I didn't want to say bi bi. Now that the pun is out of the way, here is the point. There was basically this gallery area full of big pieces of paper with questions on them. One of those questions was 'Who are your LGBTQIA+ idols' Here's a few you might consider: Abe Lincoln, Eleanor Roosevelt, Alan Turing, Vincent Price, Florence Nightengale, Tchaikovsky, & Glenn Burke.

That’s so great! What a wonderful sounding party - I love the idea of this gallery. I have made sure all these people are on our list of suggestions. Thank you for sharing this with us!

an eight-doctor-centric fic with him on a planet where the only method of communication is music (a bit like Intelligent Tigers but not quite) and he’s trying to find a way to like. the heart of the planet while improvising a rudimentary form of talking with his violin. this might be a lot of fun to write actually
