So I’m officially working with Skadi
I started having some experiences with her about a week ago, but I wanted to have some more experiences to validate my experience before I talked about it; I’ve never worked with a deity before.
I was in the astral, and I’ve been having my visions surfacing again. They aren’t super important, but here is a link to the vision. Anyways, I was having it again, and I was standing in this open, snowy clearing. It started to lightly snow, snowflakes gently falling down around me, highlighting the stillness. It’s so quiet and still and beautiful, I thought.
“It is, isn’t it?”
I turned around, and there was a figure in front of me. She was female, and she had long dark hair that was in a braid that ran behind her. She was wearing a thick winter tunic; her coat had a fur collar, and brown fur on the shoulders. Lots of fur. She also had a wolf by her side.
We observed each other for a while, then she started walking towards the mist and beckoned me to follow her, before disappearing. I walked into the mist after her. I tried to follow, looking for the footsteps and tracks left behind, but my vision was so foggy... I heard a sound of exasperation and a hand reached out and grabbed my arm, and pulled me out.
I find myself on a high place... a ledge on the mountain-side that overlooks the land... a gorgeous frozen expanse. The sun ducks behind the horizon, as pale, muted, orange light reflects off of the frozen plains...
She bids me to follow, and we go up the mountain, atop of which is some kind of residence. I follow her and enter into her keep. There we passed through many halls, finally entering into like a... study?? There was a hearth, and it was cozy, compared to the other rooms.
Here we talked. I tried to get a read on her, dipping into her energy, but I felt myself suddenly cut off, and she snapped at me, saying that it was rude to tune in without permission. I was completely taken aback; this has never happened before. Normally, I can tune into others just fine; I didn’t realize that it was considered rude, let alone that she could feel me connecting to her. I apologized.
We talked. Kind of made brief introductions. We talked about what we are both looking for, what we would want. I’ve never worked with a deity before, so I have no reference point and no idea what to expect, or what I’d even want. After discussing for a while, we decided to just kind of wait things out and see what happens.
Over the course of the next couple of days, I felt her watching me. I could feel her presence, and sometimes I would get images of her sitting, watching me curiously; sometimes, it wasn’t her, but her wolf, who is oddly quiet, watching me with very piercing eyes.
She also came to me in my dreams. When I would doze off, before falling into heavy sleep, dreaming lightly, the dream would shift to a cold location, and she would be there, and we would converse.
Skadi is... she’s blunt. She kind of has a “no-nonsense” air about her. Very straight-forward and serious, also kind of has a biting tone about her. But beyond this, she can also be... kind?? and loving?? It’s like the classic father that is very hard on their kid, always pushing them. But they have moments where they aren’t so harsh, and they show their affection in their own way. It’s tough love. But yeah. She is definitely kind of rough lol she like bosses me around and doesn’t shy away from interrupting me or hushing me if I’m getting ahead of myself or interrupting. Tbh I think it’s a good thing
Yesterday we met again. She asked for my name, and confirmed that she was indeed Skadi, “Goddess of the North.” We decided to work together, and kind of negotiated what we wanted out of it. Because I’ve never done this before, she agreed to kind of stepping back and re-analyzing our agreement after we’ve worked together for a little while and know what we (mostly I) like.
But her requirements were that she wants me to always be available to her, should she need me. I’m also to give her offerings, of meat, alcohol, and breads. I think it’s funny, because I tried to do more of a pescatarian diet, and it didn’t end up working out, and now I see why lol.
Once we were finished negotiating the terms, I asked her if there’s a way to make it official, like if we like shake on it or something lol. She told me to stand before her, and kneel. Then she started speaking in a tongue that I am not familiar with, chanting. I felt some kind of energy swirling around me... I could see it, but also couldn’t see it at the same time... I think I could see this like pale blue energy... and I think there were runes intermixed?? It circled around me as she chanted. Then, she chanted one word, loudly, holding it... I looked up, and we made eye contact, her eyes open, almost glowing with this blue light... the energy above me then circled around me, falling, glowing blue, kind of like a spiral or helix... I thought it was interesting that it went around me and not into me...
Then her eyes calmed down and it was over. I didn’t really feel any different afterwards. But she extended a hand to help me up, smiling. She then invited me to feast with her in her dining hall. I really like the keep that I’ve seen so far.
So yeah! Kind of crazy tbh, I never thought that I’d be working with a deity. It’s a completely new experience to me, just in general. But I really like Skadi, it just feels... right. It really fits with my vision, and I’ve always kind of felt like a deep resonance with like the mountains and Iceland. Maybe this is why.
Anyways, that’s it for now. I’m sure that I’ll have more stories to share as time passes and we work together more. I’m glad that we are working together, and I look forward to all that I have to learn from this experience.
