Bet ya can't guess who owns this guitar... 😄 . I spent an enjoyable evening watching @tomgibson3783 playing his super sexy smoke green 1959 #Gretsch #6125 Anniversary with his band Pogo Rodeo yesterday. . The last time I posted a pic of this guitar was about 2 years ago when it was a mere empty husk on the bench of @guitarfixr at @folkwaymusic who restored and modded the guitar for Tom. It started life as a '59 6125 with a badly replaced fretboard. A customized fretboard, with Tom's name inlaid, and second pickup (thus converting it to a de facto "Double Anniversay") were installed. The original Patent Applied For #Filtertron pickup is in the neck and a custom ordered matching unpotted Filtertron with PAF cover from @tvjonesinc is in the bridge. The finish is original with superb pinstriping added by @rollie_pinstriper. . I'm hoping Tom will lend me this beauty at some point so I can get you some detailed shots! 😄 . Here is the guitar I was talking about in my “story” earlier today - it it is a project #guitar I would love to have: @tomgibson3783’s 1959 #Gretsch #6125 #SingleAnniversary in that oh so sexy #smokegreen. Tom picked it up on the cheap because it was a bit mangled and in need of restoration. It had been poorly fitted with a replacement fretboard that had dot fret markers instead of the proper thumbnail inlays, and a @bigsby B3 instead of the correct B6 unit. Tom is having @guitarfixr of @folkwaymusic restore and hotrod it for him. Work will include routing for and installation of a second pickup in the bridge position, a single master volume, a tone control, a pickup selector, the proper #Bigsby B6, and the coolest thing possible, a custom-made ebony fretboard WITH HIS NAME INLAID into it! This thing is going to be killer when it’s done.
