Mojo I just want to let you know that back in like 2018 you left a gloriously meaty and glowing bookmark note on a fic of mine, and let me hecking tell you, whenever I’d get other bookmark notes like ‘Meh: two stars’ I’d get all squirmy and discouraged for a hot second, but then I’d make myself go back and read your note, like balancing the scales, or painting over offensive graffiti with ~Artwork(tm)~

So, point is, you continue to have an impact on me personally, and the moment I realized that THIS blog, this fucking ::service:: to the fandom, is also the person who’s been a kind of feedback touchstone? That moment fucking rocked.

Aaaah, you wrote Hurricanes in Hertford, Hereford, and Hampshire, the fic with fem!Bilbo.  I loved that one so much!

And I’m just delighted that the bookmark stuck with you.  It’s so true, what Nonny said earlier.  Comments, kudos and bookmarks are so powerful, they have such a huge and lasting impact.

It’s a really good feeling to know that you’ve left someone feeling better instead of worse.  More people should try it!  (And thank you for telling me so.)

In addition to the sriracha cabinet, the Haus used to have an entire refrigerator shelf dedicated to Top-The-Tater. This is shitty bc once Johnson graduated, they no longer had a Source, and every SMH member’s heart was broken. He will occasionally ship them one, though, bc he’s magnanimous like that.

I had to google this and in spite of their declaration that it’s a Midwest thing it looks like it’s only in Minnesota? Is this just sour cream and onion dip?

Sitting down, Coach Bittle gave the menu a cursory glance before ordering a beer. They spent a few minutes doing the small talk thing before Bob rubbed the back of his neck, sighing. 

“I just wanted to check in with you,” he admitted. “See how things were. With the boys.”

“They’re fine,” said Coach. “It’s -- an adjustment. But they’re happy.”

Bob smiled softy. “They are happy, aren’t they?” he said.

Coach let out a sigh. “Incandescently,” he said, “according to my son.”

Bob laughed. “That sounds like Bitty,” he said, and something in Coach’s face warmed a little.

Yeah this recent spate has been an emotional rollercoaster

its always been a “genre” i see a lot here and idk why i read them bc obviously theyre not written for what i like except i like the angst so i guess in some way they are written for my interests lmao

on the one hand i want to write that emotional release, but on the other hand i dont want to write jack cheating on bitty with parse at ALL TT.TT

For some reason, I find that Leonard Bernstein's version of Beethoven's 9th (ode to Freedom, not joy, since it was right after the Berlin Wall fell) is perfect for that, the music speeds up and slows down and when it's over there's applause

I laughed really hard at “when it’s over there’s applause”. There is a song or two I listen to that has applause at the end, I never considered I could take the applause personally! I’ll have to check it out.

There was a British show about zombies where zombie-is was like a disease and people are rehabilitated. Are those zombies ok?

I mean, with post-apocalypse stuff I have a genuine emotional hard time with it (with some exceptions, but not enough that I generally take the risk). With zombies it was originally that I didn’t find them interesting, combined with the fact that they almost always come with a side of post-apocalypse. But they’ve become so popular and ubiquitous that now I’m annoyed by them, like someone who doesn’t like or can’t eat bacon must have felt in 2015, when bacon was The Thing. 

So like....the show probably wouldn’t bother me, or at the most would mildly annoy me. But I also wouldn’t seek it out to watch because I just don’t care. :D

Hard same, and hugs. Been there too often. Idk if this will help you as much as it helped me, but I took to adding things online to wish lists (amazon 'save for later' was really a lifesaver) or I'd hack my eBay habit by clicking watch instead of bid...for in-person things I'd keep a running tally of the would-be expenses so I'd be staring at a magazine thinking oh what's $4.99? And then I'd flip to the little notebook of all the would-be little things and see how much it would add up.

I made myself a few rules at the beginning of the month:

1. No Makeup. No Clothes. No “going out to shop” trips. 2. If I want something on Amazon, it goes on a “buy later” wish list for at least a week. 3. No worrying about the food budget or my diet. I found that trying to restrict there was leading to worse impulsive behavior elsewhere. I’ll deal with this when I re-work my meds at the end of the month. 

So instead of hundreds of dollars, my spending has been like...$50. A new water bottle, a magazine, Stardew Valley, and a Turbo Tabla album I needed for dance stuff.  Only the magazine was really impulsive. 

This week’s paycheck, I’ll probably buy a new trash can for the kitchen. An expensive one, but I’ll have researched it for a week. And another payment on that little student loan. 

I’m just trying hard not to be super pissed at myself.
