alright, i’ve hit a fork in the road with my story. now, i’m still on the plot-development/outling stage, and i work a fair amount on it every day.
there’s one major plot point that i’ve had from the beginning, the catalyst for much of the drama of the story - the main character’s dearly departed love from spy school is actually alive and was working for the enemy the whole time (writing it like that makes me feel like an idiot but whatever).
but now, i’m thinking he was sent from inside the agency that runs the spy school to suss out the strengths/weaknesses of the other students, and when his work there was done, his character (the person the other students knew) was removed from the picture as they had other shit for him to do.
obviously, i’m writing a spy romance. a YA spy romance. with a spy school. there’s not much realistic here to begin with, but that doesn’t mean i’m not gonna try. i feel like the second, new plotline solves some issues i had with the first, but also changes just about everything following this.
do i stick with the original or should i follow the new plot knowing i could go back at any time (with fresher eyes)
