Goddammit I miss the Finnish Independence Day on December 6th.
My family used to send cakes to my paternal Finnish grandma otherwise on December 6th. She grew up nearby some bilingual region at the Southern parts of Finland as a farmer girl while both her parent came from center parts of Finland. I think her first language was still mainly Finnish, my dad sometimes calls her a Finland-Swede for being bilingual while also simultaneously a Sweden-Finn for her first language being Finnish (most Swedes with recent Finnish-speaking ancestry I know also uses these two terms simultaneously). Does that also make her a Swedish-Finland-Swede?
She move to Sweden when she saw my Westrobothnian grandpa at some dating ad of hot blonde single Swedes in some Finnish girls' magazine. My grandpa went on some crazy adventure when he ran away from home as a teen all the way down to South Africa working with cranes before return back to Westrobothnia putting a dating ad of himself. My grandma only had one brother who recently passed away and he only had one daughter which are the only relatives left in Finland.
Anyway, here's an extremely rushed artwork with mixed unusual designs. Snusmumriken (Snufkin), Snorkfröken (Snorkmaiden) and Lilla My are mostly based on concept arts of the theater Mumintroll i kulisserna, Mymlan (Mymble) and Hemulen the skier are based on the last book Sent i November, Förfadern (the Ancestor) is based on Mumindalen 1973 advent calendar, Sniff is based on later designs (later illustrations and comic strips), Too-ticki and Filifjonkan (mostly based on Sent i november) has mixed influences.
It's not a duplicated image, one of them is supposed to be a gif but I'm very unsure if it works (it doesn't work for me).
I'm right now busy on translating Tove Jansson-related content, my literary analysis of the original Swedish-language sources into English and planning the structure of starting this blog. This blog will be disappointing I think.
