San Diego Comic Con happened. Ben joined Mark, Amanda, Sue, and Steven for the official Sherlock panel. There was a whirlwind of videos and pics and quotes from the weekend (which you can find gathered under my #sdcc 2016 tag). I’m not going to recap everything that was said, but I’ll try to at least cover the things particularly relevant to filming. Ben confirmed he’d just finished a week of night shoots. Mark confirmed what Benjamin Caron had already told us, that there are two weeks of filming left. Mark and Ben told us they had to fly back and film an “enormous” scene with the two of them and Martin on Tuesday. Steven and Mark wrote in a last-minute scene to account for the fact that Denver the dog wouldn’t move during the London filming for episode 1. Sue told us that Martin was filming on Friday while everyone else flew out to San Diego and that it was something that “wasn’t that comfortable for him to do.” Mark said there was a big scene with a lot of the cast present (presumably including Toby Jones as that’s who they were talking about in that part of the interview) that the crew applauded for after they saw it. Amanda, despite her post from July 20, said she has one day of filming left to do.
They showed us a sketch about how they made the decision to bring Amanda to SDCC.

We also got our three keywords for this series, which are actually names this time around: Thatcher, Smith, and Sherrinford.
David Luther joined instagram and shared a picture of Sherlock in Mycroft’s office, which is certainly a backpost, as Ben was in San Diego all weekend.

Mark said he was indeed headed straight back to Cardiff.

Loo said she was headed back to Cardiff, where she later met up with Una, so it’s likely they’re both filming tomorrow.
