hey dean. sort of a sappy type question here, but one that i think you of all people should be able to help with.

so my little brother is graduating high school today. our story's actually kinda similar to you and sam's, funny enough. i'll leave out the gory details but suffice it to say that we had a shitty childhood, and not a great education. i taught him to read and write and do basic arithmetic and shit like that. i'm proud to say he's graduating with all A's, which is damn sure better than i did.

all that said, a lot has led up to this moment, for me. honestly sometimes it's like the only reason i do anything is to make sure he succeeds and is happy. now that he's graduating, i just... don't really know what to do? i'm happy for him, obviously, and he's excited about the party, and i don't wanna be a sobbing mess on the day he's supposed to be celebrating. i just don't know what to do. i'm trying to keep myself together through today. did you feel like this? when sam graduated? any advice?

Well. I'd say, just focus on the moment in front of you. Sammy never actually graduated, and by the time he was in college, he had cut ties with me and John for around two years. And, maybe that effort you used to make sure he succeeds, put into your own success? Find a hobby you enjoy. Find different ways to help your brother. Find ways to help yourself. But as for right now? Just enjoy the moment. Bask in the fact that you did your job of helping your brother.
