Dundonian Pilsner

Dundonian Pilsner is by a brewery, based in Dundee caled 71 Brewing. They have the tagline "by the engineers of beer"

Upon noticing the name, I instantly realised that this beer was from Dundee. Dundee, on the east coast of Scotland, is heralded as the “City of discovery”. I knew that I hadn’t ever had a beer from Dundee, so I immediately added this to the shopping cart.

Today we completed the final presentation. It went very smoothly and the client liked the design we introduced. The posters in particular were highly favoured (well done Ross!) 

These are the slides we showed to the client. 

Overall, this project was a massive success and we worked very well as a team. Now we are waiting for the final verdict!

Today we have met as a team in order to see how everyone is getting on with their individual tasks. Natalia has created a six pack mock-up out of cardboard by cutting each side individually, photos of that will be up shortly. Renato is still working on his photograph packaging concept, but in the mean time he worked on bottle cap designs which can be seen in a post below. He used the typography background with the number 71. Ross is finalising his three posters and is looking into getting them printed. He will also work on a website concept today. Fraser is working on a banner animation that could be an advertisement for the lager. Shaun is working on coaster and keg lens mock-ups in illustrator. 

We have also updated our schedule in order to stay on track with the deadline and our various individual tasks.

We are getting on very well as a team and we will get together as a team tomorrow in order to work on the delivery of our presentation.

Today we received some feedback from yesterdays client meeting from the lecturers, which we then discussed in a team meeting in order to move ahead in the design process. 

Present at the team meeting: Natalia, Ross, Renato, Fraser and Shaun.

Action points for this week

- Finalise label design and create mock-ups (Shaun and Fraser working on this with feedback and help from rest of the team)

- Posters are looking great, but need to be worked on a little bit more. Ross will experiment with type setting and colours Tuesday and Wednesday.

- Packaging needs to be mocked up. Natalia and Renato will create templates and mockups with designs ready by the end of the week.

We also included some images in this post to show the beer mock up we have created in today’s class, the label design is still in progress and we are going to continue our work on it tomorrow (Wednesday). And a photo of the book we are using to research six pack carriers for the packaging.

Today we met with the client to discuss our brand design and all the concepts we came up with. These are the mood boards we presented. 

Some of the notes we took from the client in order to improve our design:

- Photographic and illustrative packaging concepts will be developed and taken forward as images of Dundee on the box will work well locally at the start, but later on when the brand  moves to other places the logo on the packaging will work better.

- We are going to stick with a grey colour scheme as the client preferred this. We will also keep a hint of blue on the tanks in order to add depth to the design.

- “Engineers of Beers” tagline needs to be added to the logo as it is currently missing from the label.

Natalia’s packaging concepts on illustrator, inspired by the logo we chose for the brand. A yellow and grey colour scheme was used as the client likes that part of the current branding, but can be easily changed.
