CLIENT BRIEFING/MEET THE TEAM

Today we were briefed on the client project we will be working on for the next 4 weeks. We will be designing a brand for a new brewery based in the centre of Dundee.

ABOUT THE BREWERY

Located in Dundee, it is the only lager brewery in the area, in a building rich with engineering history. The building is the last remaining of an ironworks and engineering firm. The owners have also come from an engineering background, and would like this and the history of the building to be incorporated in the brand design.

The first core product that is being launched is “71 Lager” – a lager based on classic Czech recipes. It is a crisp, refreshing and easy drinking lager.

DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

· An emphasis on the building’s engineering history and the Engineers of Beers concept.

· Must be appealing to regular and premium lager drinkers, but also appealing to craft beer drinkers who appreciate a refreshing lager.

· Design should be modern, yet traditional. Complementary to Tennants.

Outputs:

· Bottle label and cap/crown.

· Keg lens.

· Bottle 6 pack packaging.

· Example of identity use on business cards or similar.

· Poster for core 71 Lager that describes engineers of beers and the universal appeal of our core lager.

Tag line: Engineers of Beers.

BrewDog’s Collabfest is back and it is big better than ever! For 2018 it is the following;

52 beers

52 breweries (though I’d argue 53 as BrewDog are involved with the beers!)

4 days (increased from 3 days last year)

Hosted in all of their European bars

Dundonian Pilsner

Dundonian Pilsner is by a brewery, based in Dundee caled 71 Brewing. They have the tagline "by the engineers of beer"

Upon noticing the name, I instantly realised that this beer was from Dundee. Dundee, on the east coast of Scotland, is heralded as the “City of discovery”. I knew that I hadn’t ever had a beer from Dundee, so I immediately added this to the shopping cart.

Today we completed the final presentation. It went very smoothly and the client liked the design we introduced. The posters in particular were highly favoured (well done Ross!)

These are the slides we showed to the client.

Overall, this project was a massive success and we worked very well as a team. Now we are waiting for the final verdict!
