John and Yoko on The Simon Dee Show, recorded on 7th February 1970 for London Weekend Television at Studio One, Wembley Studios, London and broadcast on the 8th February 1970. Accompanying them (but not pictured here) was black rights activist Michael X, with whom John and Yoko had exchanged a bag of their hair for a pair of Muhammad Ali’s bloodstained boxing shorts previously on the 4th February.

They discussed James Hanratty, The Bag One lithographs and the Two Virgins record cover, and the recent hair and boxing short exchange with Michael X. John revealed that Sotheby’s had declined to auction the hair as “they only sell art.”

On 7th February 1970, George produced the recording of Govinda by the Radha Krishna Temple at Trident Studios, a follow up to the Hare Krishna Mantra single released previously. George played acoustic guitar with Klaus Voormann on bass and Alan White on drums. Members of the temple contributed vocals, bells, organ and flute and the London Philharmonic Orchestra played harp, tubular bells and strings. 

It was released on 6th March 1970 in the UK with Govinda Jai Jai on the b-side. To this day, the track is played each morning at all the ISKCON temples around the world, at the request of the movement’s leader, AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
