7th February
Took aspects of Sara Kipins art (armour and nature) and experimented with what I could create.
The top sketch is a breast plate from a suit of armour covered in plants and flowers. I liked the juxtaposition of using armour, which is something inherently masculine, with flowers, typically feminine. The flowers are twinning around and taking over the armour signifying women taking ahold of their place in a male driven society. The use of man man made objects and natural also highlights this contrast.
The other two sketches are again of breast plates. One being a simple piece of armour with a feminist symbol spray painting on top and the other a more elaborate piece of armour which I drew rusted but also could be painted entirely pink with the same symbol on the chest. Both are trying to highlight women's fight for men to see them as equals in society by overtaking a masculine object.
On reflection I realise these do not highlight my original statement about female pioneers and instead focus more on women's strength and fight. Armour is a something I could use later on to drive my point home but it can't be the focus of it.
7th February
Completed page on Frances-Lise Mcgurn. Will definitely take inspiration from her paintings. Her style of painting outside the canvas gives it more freedom which I think could be relevant to what I'm trying to get across.
Made a list of experiments I could do based on research I have done so far.
Dude i havent written about him in a long time because nothing’s really chasnged? I havent talkked to him etc etc. Except maybe i don’t like him anymore, (definitely) am less obsessed with him (see: not thibnking about him 24/7 obsessed wioth the idea opf talking of to him) so maybe that means i dont like him anymore
When im home i am like a wall of willpower i do NOT like him hes lame nothing will happen in the future talking to him will make things worse will make me do more sins will make me want sth that can never happen (i mean the boi’s name is talha. no thank u) so do i like him? pfft no. do iwant to talk to him? allah na karey.
But when i go to class and i see him then im like oh no it hasnt gone has it :(. That’s how it started in the beginning too. The first day i was sure he was in my class i couldnt get out soon enough/ “hated” him etc etc. Then one day he was sitting and i could see his side profile and my brain just went oh no. and it was downhill from there.
Like two days ago i could hear him laughing with his friends and iswear my heart kinda hurt man. ew why am i like this tboi of all ppl. And yesterday when he walked in then i heard the girl behind me like start talking to her friend and i couldn’t hear what she was saying but maaaaybe her tone was kinda scronful/negative idk. then the friend goes kon (like who u talkin bout) and the girl said talha. so that annoyed me. y u talking bout him. hahahahahah srsly whats wrong with me. gurl hasnt talked to him on purpose then gets annoyed when ppl talking about him srsly tho why why were they talking about him goddammit im jealous. and i was sitting there in the front row with that wise old horse staring at me from the door wondering what those girls would think if they knew he called me cute once.idk its the jealousy that made me write this post i think and im late for academy and i reeeally dont wanna reach at the same time as him bc then he’ll see me arrive in my horsedrawen carriage with my glass slippers aka the rickety van who’s roof leaks. (boi himself used to come in a ferrari aka equally rickety taxi in elixir but we dont tend to remmeber those things hah i dont know what im saying bye)
