Here's an early model Commodore VIC-20 Computer that found it's way to the Wisconsin Computer Club. Not sure it works or not yet as of this writing. The early models placed a good chunk of the power supply onto the main board (under the black metal parts) rather than in the external power bricks Commodore employed later. While not super unusual, there are far fewer of these early machines left out there today.

I believe that this machine was repaired or retrofitted at some point- the yellowing on the case halves is very uneven as seen in photo 2. This indicates to me that at some point the original "foam and foil" keyboard died, and was swapped with a working keyboard from a much later VIC-20.

Into the Eagle’s Nest

World War II and video games have gone together like peanut butter and chocolate during the medium’s existence. Interpretations of the historic war range from serious strategy games & detailed simulators to the high-flying fare of Wolfenstein 3D or the Call of Duty series. Interceptor Micros, a publishing studio riding the wave of British microcomputers, had their take with Into The Eagle’s Nest, released in 1987, on a host of computing platforms of the time. Its setup and pedigree had potential to be something quite thrilling, but the finished product leaves much to be desired.

Flashback!

I just had a flashback to the 80's when my family got its first computer, Acorn's BBC Micro Model B. My brothers and I used it to play popular TV games (even before Atari) like Snake and Tetris through our television. It was AWESOME!

The BBC Models could be found in schools up and down the country in the early (launched in 1982) to mid eighties. It was expensive compared to other 8-bit home computers, so it wasn't as popular in homes as the Speccy or C64, though close to a million units were sold. It had a brilliant, open and comprehensive BASIC (Beginner's All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) programming language, though.
