Setlock Recap, 7.31.16-8.5.16
On Sunday, Danny and Arwel were planning some fun for Tuesday.
Monday it was back to Pinewood for more filming.
Loo told us she was headed back to Cardiff one last time and gave us a pic of Rupert and Una saying goodbye.
On her last day on set (Tuesday), Loo had some fun pretending to be Sherlock and said goodbye with a picture of Molly’s costume hanging in her trailer.
Ben got a taco truck to come to the studio and feed everyone, which afforded us a glimpse of Mark in costume.
Wednesday brought us a picture of Ben talking to a kid outside the studio, which led to plenty of speculation about who the kid could be--the child of a crew member, young Sherlock, young Mycroft, etc.
We also learned that Timothy Carlton will be returning as Mr Holmes in s4.
In other casting news, Lee Knight was revealed to be playing a reporter in ep 2 and may have been on set back on May 30.
Benjamin told us they were at Pinewood on Thursday morning, but they were later spotted filming near Museum Avenue in Cathays Park. They had already packed up by the time that any setlockers arrived on the scene, but on Friday we got pictures from Arwel, Benjamin, and Nic Pringle that were clearly taken there. Benjamin’s picture also showed that the set had been decorated with plaques naming it Rathbone Place.
Benjamin gave us a picture of some interesting artwork on slate 500.
Friday was back to Pinewood yet again, where Benjamin showed us some pics from the 221B set, and we noticed that Mr Blue Skull was looking a bit different. We also got a picture of a safety briefing, but as Danny Hargreaves was tagged in it and Danny himself had told us he was done on Thursday, the safety briefing picture may not actually be from Friday. We got a picture of Martin [presumably] not in costume and another of Ben in costume. (Possibly of note: in the pictures from Thursday and Friday, Ben’s hair seemed to be a bit shorter or at least styled a little differently than usual.) Then Mark told us that that was a wrap on s4, and Benjamin gave us one last slate picture, which was for scene 77.
As the cast and crew headed off to the wrap party, David Arnold reminded us that even though filming is over, for some of those involved in the show their work is just beginning.
And so we come to the end of filming, friends, but just as David Arnold indicated, that doesn’t mean the fun is over. Full episode recaps will be coming your way as soon as I can figure out how exactly I want to put them together. Beyond that, there will still be plenty more news and updates and promos and speculation throughout the months to come before s4 airs. I’ll still be right here for all of it, and I hope you will, too.
A huge thank you to all of you who have followed, reblogged, sent tips, asked questions, or thrown kind words my way. This wouldn’t be nearly as much fun without you. xx
