Everything was so fucking brown. But also there were those flashes of neon that were made all the brighter by the brown/orange/yellow /yellowed-cream backdrop. A comment on reddit, not necessarily one I agree with, but I'm presenting it here for your reading enjoyment: A lot of the exaggerated colors in the 80s were a product of the carpet-mold green, skid-mark brown and dehydrated-urine yellow colors from the 70's. And the 70s brown-red was a rebellion against the bright colors of the 60s which themselves were a push back against the dull wartime styles of the 40s and 50s (and the Depression 30s).
