Thinning The Oil por Stapleton Road Por Flickr: The driver of Chinese JS 8190 thins the lubricating oil for his 2-8-0. The sub zero temperatures in the Sandouling area of North West China were turning the oil into a grease which had to be thinned before it could be used to top up the oil wells of this fine locomotive. This is a scene which is now confined to the history books as I am informed the use of these steam locos has ceased.
