they're in the stanley cup finals against each other and decide that they'll reveal their relationship when the winner raises the cup.

it's an incredibly bittersweet feeling, to be so sad and angry about losing but so so so happy for their boyfriend to win. to have your mind and soul with your team in misery but your heart is practically screaming with joy.

winning team won't let the losing jersey in the locker room so the loser wears his boyfriend's jersey much to the chirping of both teams. the loser is only a little reluctant to have the other's name on them.

Nate loved hockey, but there was something about Cole Harbour that always settled something in him. Whether it was fresh air, the sense of being home, or simply Sid, Nate felt at peace in Cole Harbour.

“I’ll miss you,” he whispered into Sid’s hair. Sid pulled back far enough for Nate to see him smile.

“I’ll miss you, too,” Sid responded softly. “Every day.”

“Loser buys dinner?”

Sid rolled his eyes. “Sure, Nate, sure.”

Nate kissed him gently and it tasted like goodbye.

Goodbye for now, it said. Goodbye until next time, until they saw each other again.

“I love you,” Nate sighed.
