I can’t seem to level with her intellectually. She doesn’t think anyone can. I really want to be the exception, you know? The only person that gets her. That she can have a real and honest conversation with. But I don’t think I have it in me. I wish things were easier. For both of us.

I worry for her. She takes every event personally. Every time something bad happens to a trans girl it’s like it’s happening directly to her. I don’t know how to help her. I don’t know if I can. I just hope she won’t resent me for not empathizing to the point of tearing myself apart.
