So I was mostly just scrolling past this AU post, but "Sock skating in the newly waxed floors" caught my eye - for Zimbits? Like, trying to actually skate/play hockey? Or the entire Samwell team comes for a housewarming party at Jack's new place in Providence and this happens?
I hope you like what I came up with (it’s sort of a mix of all your suggestions)
On AO3
“Jacky boy, you finally found a place of your own, you beautiful fucker.”
And that’s how Jack considers his new apartment in Providence to be baptized.
“What do you think, Shits?”
Shitty walks around the empty apartment—herringbone wooden floor, light grey stone on the kitchen counter, large windows in the living room with a reading nook—and nods firmly. “S’awesome, my boy.”
“I’m older than you.”
“And yet, you’re still my boy, aren’t you?”
“...I suppose so,” Jack admits with a small chuckle.
“When are the movers supposed to arrive with your furniture, Jacky?”
“Um.” Jack checks his calendar on his phone because he’s a responsible adult who keeps all of his appointments in one place. “Tomorrow afternoon, if all things go as they’re supposed to.”
Shitty comes back to his side and slams his arm around his shoulders. “So what you’re saying, Jack, is that this whole surface is ours to enjoy for the evening and matinée, amiright?”
“...Right.”

Do they say which vetch exactly? Because my guess would be the seeds, but a quick bit of googling suggests that no, they are poisonous. But there are a lot of vetches, and not all of them might be. And fava beans are in the vetch genus, and that *is* a food, so??? (I need botanical names to function. Or, like, some semblance of function.)
THEY DO NOT SAY WHICH VETCH
they have a separate category for “Broad beans, horse beans, dry” which google suggets they are talking about fava beans, so I don’t think it’s that?
it’s literally just “Vetches” in among a list including everything from Almonds to “Cabbages and other brassicas” to “Pulses, not otherwise specified” to maize and wheat and rice and stuff
this is why #mo vs the FAO is a tag

I have absolutely no idea what this means, but your excitement makes me smile.
I can explain if you want. But its honestly funnier if I don’t.
My name means "from the stream where martens live" - according to my father, the martens actually refer to otters, though. (My father can go fuck himself, I'm not speaking to him any more, but thanks for the name, I guess, I like it. And since it's now also the name of my business, I have a "socially acceptable" reason not to change it if I get married. Because "I don't want to" is rarely accepted.)
That’s lovely!
Not a question per se, but I wanted to say - a while ago I saw that you loved Tailchaser's Song, and since I'm a big Tad Williams fan, that made me really happy! (I actually started a long-overdue reread of Tailchaser's Song in December, but got distracted by other stuff.)
I gave a copy to a young friend for Christmas. She’s a fan of the Warriors series, and I hope it doesn’t disappoint her. (I would have been a huge Warriors fan if they’d been around back then!) I still love the book like anything, and should really reread it since it’s been YEARS.
I’d like to reread Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn too. Then I feel like I could start on the stuff of his I haven’t read yet.
PASS THE HAPPY ALONG! When you get this, reply with five things that make you happy and pass along to ten nice people. ♥
1) my cats in various places
2) the word “kerfuffle”
3) book smell
4) story based video games
5) the night light my girlfriend got me that is shaped like a marshmallow cat
Late to the party, but if I still may - 💌?
All your answers are so lovely to read. They feel like poetry about gentle, happy things.
bells and wind chimes. shiny bugs. the smell of fresh compost. earth under your fingernails. clear air. long skirts. homemade jam. crocheted pot holders. colouring pencils. finding small treasures - a snail shell, a pretty cloud, a neat little trinket. getting up even though it's hard. things that grow. teapots. the chocolate fruits they sell at faires and markets. freshly chopped wood. oregano. smooth stones. tiny fish. apple blossoms. tracks in the snow. the light of the full moon. having a library. opening all the windows. lace. pockets full of useful things. early spring - a breath of frost still in the air, and on first glance, everything seems dead, but the ground is wet, and when you look close, there's fresh grass pushing up and buds swelling on the branches. all that life just waiting to burst out.
