9 Years
So today is the day my time on tumblr started 9 years ago. Let me break it down for you.
I was 14 when I came to this god forsaken website. I followed every emo and scene blog I could find and would post about my horrible depression even though I was the most social band geek there was.
This place saw me through all of high school, getting dumped by loser boyfriends and realizing I was probably better off without them. It was probably a little ridiculous now that I’m reflecting.
This place saw me through all of college, exploring the different avenues I could go and meeting incredible people. Even though I wasn’t following the emo kids anymore, I still would see one or two every now and then and remember my roots.
How many 23 year olds can say that there’s a place they would come to consistently, day after day, and just get away from the toxic opinions on every other social media platform?
Probably a lot. But hey, what kind of millennial would I be if I didn’t make myself feel special for no reason.
