On the Cancellation of Hannibal
Okay, guys, I am honestly heartbroken to hear the news of Hannibal’s cancellation by NBC. I am not going to use this post to rant my anger at NBC (though I would like to, I’m trying to stay calm here), but instead I am going to write a love letter to the show for anyone who agrees that this show is worth saving and is willing to spread the word. I have absolutely loved this show from day one. I had just seen Silence of the Lambs for the first time not too long before I found out the show was going to be happening, and I was not disappointed by what I was given in the pilot. Here was a show with stunning and unique visuals that I had never seen before, and it was like a breath of fresh air. Bryan Fuller and co. were not afraid to go there (at least, go there as much as NBC allowed. I will say this, NBC was willing to let Hannibal go further than many other networks probably would have. But I digress), and they were able to craft a story that was intricate and intriguing without being too confusing or convoluted (at least, in my opinion). The casting was perfect, as Mads, Hugh, and the rest of the actors all shone in their own way. This show inspired me to read the original books, and afterword, I was able to pick up on all the references that had been put in the show. This show, even though it did not exactly “follow” what the events of the books might have been, was able to take pieces and elements from different stories, and put them together in such a beautiful way. This show is something I look forward to every year, and it means the world to me. I hope and pray that someone else sees what the Fannibals see and will save our show (looking at you, Amazon, Netflix, etc.). I want to see Bryan’s full vision realized and go beyond if we are able to. Thank you if you took the time to read this whole post, and please, pass it on if you can.

Hannibal is so weird cause it’s really brutal and stuff but at the same time it’s such a poetical and deep series I can’t even handle it
