To add about what you said on Gale: it's really fucking funny how he snaps at Madge and insinuates that no one in her family would have all that many chances of being reaped when HER AUNT LITERALLY DIED IN THE ARENA. Which we now know for a fact, and a very gruesome one at that. She was made an example. And we know that the Capitol didn't treat her any less like cattle to be slaughtered just because she had more food or nicer clothes than Haymitch or Louella. Not to mention how iirc Madge and her family were actually killed in the bombing but Gale and his family survived so like. It's really proving that Gale was fucking wrong.
"B-But he knew the tesserae system was made to divide the district people!" yeah and he still fucking fell for it like an idiot. How's that a redeeming factor and not another reason to dislike him.
(for context I think it's fine if people like or even love Gale, but like. Yall are allowed to like him as a flawed character, yknow? You don't have to try and make up silly excuses that contradict each other.)

There’s this sense of “I like his character so I must twist this so he’s Good cuz I can’t like a Bad Person or IM bad” and i just ??? Did yall not grow up thinking maleficent was cool?? You can like bad mean or even evil characters without having to twist all their actions so it feels justified. Gale is a jerk! That’s okay! His life is sad! That’s okay! It doesn’t magically erase him being a jerk. But alas.
The big lesson here is we can’t tear each other down just cuz we disagree. I feed into it too sometimes I’m not perfect. *Hey look internet check it out people are all fallible* I just kinda wish ppl would stop implying I support genocide or am unsympathetic to this characters (fictional) horrible struggles.
