Is There A Doctor In The House? Nope.
Courtesy of alamy.com I live in an urban area. My doctor is so close, if I touch the end of my nose, my elbow brushes against her office. To be precise, she’s a block and a half away. My dentist is 6 blocks away. Three 3 hospitals are within spitting distance of my residence. When it comes...

She didn’t want to sleep or even lay down. Something was keeping her awake. The heat was coming through the walls and wrapping its arms around her like the snug walls of a coffin. There was nothing to light up the sky--no orange-haze of light pollution, but no stars either. If she laid down, the walls would close in. The coffin would slam shut.
Hallucinations were a potential result of not treating her Disorder, the psychiatrists all told her as they disapproved of her refusing to give up her autonomy. Everything that was happening to her now was her own fault.
Finally she stopped walking in circles and laid down on her bed and waited--to fall asleep, for the lights to come back on, to understand why this quiet, still night made her feel like she shouldn’t stop moving.
And then the rain came. The heat broke. She got an idea that some asshole would definitely call crazy someday, but to her it made perfect sense.
